the free people blog...

We here at free people are a curious bunch. We share an interest in exploring all aspects of the artistic culture that surrounds us and in the people that create it. This blog is about sharing those discoveries and maybe even inspiring you to do some discovering of your own.

I'm so happy Free People has a blog now! I've been wearing the brand since 1994.
This might be a silly question to ask, but how can one become a Free People model?
Posted by Sarah on October 30, 2006 4:59 PM
Hi Sarah! We go to the pros for our models, booking them through agencies in NY mostly. Thanks so much for commenting!

Love the clothes, love the site design and all the design details you've always paid such amazingly good attention to. Mentioned your fab new blog over at both NOTCOT.com and NOTCOT.org!!

Your catalog is very well designed, the paper choice is great too.

The blogs so far have been really interesting, and they nicely add to the idea of what Free People is all about. Good job so far!

Wow. Really. Love the DIY-ness and cool chick factor feel of the blog. Adore the behind-the-scenes as well. This is just my speed....

Hey! I loooove free people and am obsessed with my new wool jacket (the officer)- it's stuplendous (did I just make that word up?), I wear it everyday! I also just wanted to say hello, and introduce you to my indie design blog, Modish, only because I think you might dig it. So, hello! And, http://www.modish.typepad.com Keep up the good blogging action, and I'll keep up the plentiful purchasing =)

I was just wondering how you are affiliated with Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters? Are the designs teams the same? Or are you owned by the same company? The catalogue addresses are the same. But all three stores have their own look.I like the blog idea and the links.Great idea.
Posted by suzi on November 11, 2006 12:15 AM
Hi Suzi. All three brands are under Urban Outfitters Inc. We are owned by the same company but operate separately in terms of design. Each company has it's own designers, display team, merchandisers, etc that work within the aesthetic of that particular brand. Hope I answered your question. Thanks for reading!

I'd love to use a few of the new fp umbrellas for our "baby doll anime" editorial in our summer '07 issue. Even though our readers are 12-17 they adore fp clothes. Check out the website: www.bleechmagazine.com. We're published quarterly.

hey, i am dying to have a vintage prom dress which is relatively inexpensive (under $400). but i can't even find many vintage dresses that fit the "prom" criteria, aka long and a spring color. freepeople blog and its readers seem very plugged in to the vintage scene, so i was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere i could find such a dress? thankyou!!

I wish you had a store in Florida. Love the website, clothing, furniture, everything. Kickin in the extreme! This is so me and I wish there were stores like this when I was growing up. I was totally into the vintage scene and looking unique. I got laughed at a lot but older people loved my style. I've turned my hobbie into a business these days and it is sites like yours that keep me motivated to continue to grow and fulfill my fantasies. You guys are right on the mony and your site just screams Panache!

Do you have a post anywhere that talks about your company...I mean who started it, how it got started...etc...was is started by an individual designer and then picked up by a larger corporation for mass marketing???

hey people
i just wanted to say that i LOVE free people!
i am not rich and not independent yet (im 12, okay?!)
but i LOVE free people and since my school is annoyingly abercrombie-and-juicy (that's ALL they wear!!!) i love free people since it makes me feel original.
so i only have 3 things from free people so far, and 2 were purchased at a cool secondhand store (Plato's Closet-www.platoscloset.com-check it out!)
1. cherry country kitchen headband (purchased at king of prussia mall, PA)
2. a brown, green and pink patterned skirt with a beaded waistband (purchased at plato's closet)
3. linen-washed white pants (purchased at plato's closet)
once again, I LOVE FREE PEOPLE!
hehe. sorry.
if you have a crafts or original clothes/etsy or whatever website, email me at bdwaybound@aim.com and i'd love to check it out! thanks!
kendall + free people = love

How come you guys don't make a plus size line? You would do so well. Many of my bustier friends love the clothes that our skinny friends wear and I am personally sick of making clothes myself. Plus I don't have the talent to make anything moare than a skirt or something really simple...

I was just looking at your new job posting because I am dying to get a job at FreePeople.. and I saw that there are a lot of new jobs located in Concordville, PA which is a good location for me. But it is for Terrain. Is this a new store that is part of the FreePeople brand? Could you please just let me know about Terrain? Thanks so much!

Hi! i just wanted to say that i loveee free people and all of the art that goes into it. FreePeople is what inspired me to start making my own clothes and i keep lots of journals now like a photojournalists and i was surprised to see that you guys also like dan eldon! i wanted to know if you have a design team or artists that helps you with all of your art ideas? and i also wanted to know if you have internships?
Posted by Kirsten on February 19, 2008 12:47 PM
I absolutely love your blog!! I take fashion design, so it provides so much inspiration- in my style. Free People cothing prices however are exorbitant for garments that are not very well made, are made at low prices oversees, and are made out of cheap fabrics (synthetic sweaters do not keep you warm; wool (the real thing, does). Free People's mood is sort of hippie-ish, free, and connotes the feeling of independence. All of which I associate with American made products. Show some patriotism and help your own economy. and by the way, I love your decor.

i bought a free people jacket in new york at bloomingdales they dont send to uk can you suggest how i can get one in cream
Posted by jenny fowler on April 10, 2008 10:15 AM
I'm with MJ -- why don't you have sizes over 12? Are you afraid of women who are shaped like women? Or isn't our money good enough for you?
Posted by H on April 15, 2008 1:58 PM
I love the beautiful, unique, and artsy style of Free People, and I always recieve compliments when I wear this brands outfits. I think the price tag is a small price to pay for the confidence and beauty I feel that comes with these clothes.
This blog lets me keep in touch with the Free People lifestyle I wish and love to be a part of.
xoxo
