I'm really taken with these pictures by Kenichi Hoshine! There's just something about the way the paint looks... when I first saw the tree one I thought there was pretty fabric torn all over it or something. See more at DesignDig.

  • The first picture reminded me of fabric on a tree too, which in turn reminded me of an art history paper I did on Arshile Gorky. His painting Garden in Sochi was inspired by memories of his fathers farm. Apparently on the farm there was a wishing tree, and travelers and people passing would tear a strip of their clothing off and tie it to the tree. It might have looked something like that tree in the first picture.
