I’m so excited to show you this little video!
Last week we shot the photos for our upcoming catalog in August, and we had some very special models! Our August book will feature some wonderful doggies and kitties from the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, also known as PAWS, in the hopes of raising awareness of all the sweet animals in shelters around the country who need a loving home!
Since the catalog won’t be coming out until August, our intrepid Graphic Designer Kevin was on the scene and made sure to interview some of our furry models! Almost all of these guys and gals are currently up for adoption, so if you see someone you’d like to meet, don’t be afraid to contact PAWS and let them know! My kitty is from PAWS, and he has made me and my boyfriend so very happy since the moment we met him! It’s totally worth it!
Wherever you live, if you are looking for a furry best friend, be sure to check out your local shelter. They are easily found on the web or in the yellow pages, and when you get your friend from the shelter, you really are also saving a life! I can’t imagine life without my kitty Homer!

Thursday Poll – Edition 40!
April 30th, 2009 / Posted by fpgirl / PermalinkWelcome friends to our Thursday Poll! Can you believe we’ve had 40 polls now?! I hardly can!
Last week we voted on an array of gladiator sandals, and the Libia Sandal was far and away the winner, with over 400 votes! Yowza!
This week I have been looking at all our cute summer scarves, and I’ve been amazed at all the creative ways one can wear a scarf! We have some really cute new styles, and I’m curious to see which ones appeal to you guys.
First check out the Knotted Modal Scarf, shown below in purple.

Next have a look at our Cherry Blossom Mobius Scarf, worn here as a top, and in red.

Now check out our Slinky Fringe Bandana Scarf in pink.

Next up is the Patterned Sunstroke Scarf, shown here as a top, in plum!

Finally, see our Ultimate Fringe Mobius, worn as a top, in poppy.

Well what do you all think? Which scarf is your favorite?
(And if you feel like it, leave a comment and tell your favorite ways to wear scarves! I’m interested to know!)

police hugging cyclists
April 30th, 2009 / Posted by fpgirl / PermalinkOkay so this is interesting – the video below captures police in Denmark hugging helmet-less cyclists and giving them helmets. I know it’s probably just a propaganda thing, but do you guys know anything about this? Even if it is a stunt for good press, it’s really cute to see. Good effort!
For more discussion of this little topic, see here.
- Mikkel says:
Of course this is a pr stunt, but it actually happens in Denmark. Last year the Traffic safety council decided to change politics abouts cyclist, and urged the police to hand out helmets and lights (when seeing people drive around in the night without) instead of giving fines. And so they did.
- pruittfpgirl says:
Yeah I did see that! I wondered if maybe they were afraid to hug the ladies since they’re guys… maybe they thought hugging a random girl would weird her out or something…. Maybe (hopefully) there are lady cops somewhere hugging and passing out helmets to women???
- allison says:
anyone notice that they let those 2-3 women go by in the beginning and just stared at them? how come the women don’t get hugs and helmets?

footprints
April 29th, 2009 / Posted by fpgirl / Permalink
These amazing footprints worn into the wood are real! Buddhist monk Hua Chi has been praying in the same spot each day (many, many times a day) for over 20 years at his temple in Tongren, China. Hua Chi is 70 years old now, and according to this article, his footprints inspire the younger monks at the temple.
“Every day I come here and every day I look at the piece of wood, and it has inspired me to continue to make the footprints myself,” Genden Darji, a 29 year-old monk in the monastery, notes.
So awesome!

Beautiful and inspiring. Yes!

I just received the August “cat”alog and was delighted to see so many pit bull & pit bull mixes represented! I am disappointed, however, that the online catalog doesn’t reflect the same photography. I’m not crazy about the new, generic format.
