found on the beach

Artists Gilles Cenazandotti and Thierry Lede recently created a new group, Clear Art Planet, whose main mission is to go around the world cleaning up beaches. The awesome pieces above were made with the items they cleaned off of the beach in Cap Corse Corsica. I adore these pieces, they are so beautiful! It’s amazing though that those are just the items from a beach in Corsica! Probably not even close to all of them, in fact… It gets me thinking of all the stuff on the beaches of the world…
You can visit Clear Art Planet’s site, but be warned it’s in French!

You may remember a while back when we talked about all the cool sequined and embellished tights that hit the runway during fashion week… Well, Park & Cube has a really handy tutorial showing how she embellished the fabulous tights shown above! It has awesome pictures and some handy tips for those of us who feel the urge to DIY some cool tights for ourselves! Check it out here.

vintage free people!

Recently, one of our Facebook friends wrote in and asked if we had some photos of the Free People line from back in the 1980’s! Luckily for her, and for all of us, our Assistant Art Director Carrie was kind enough to put together this little video! It features items from the very beginning, when Urban Outfitters was just starting back in the 70’s and had one little shop in West Philadelphia, called The Free People’s Store. Then it moves on through the 1980’s to our inception as a separate brand, and evolves on to now! It’s really fun to see our development over time and look at all the vintage Free People styles! Enjoy!
