having a real christmas tree is nice, but not everyone has the time or resources to go out and get one and haul it home. luckily, there are plenty of DIY options out there for alternative “christmas trees” that look just as pretty and would be a really fun craft project that you can still do in time for christmas!
i love the idea of finding branches lying around outside and using them to create a very natural, earthy looking tree like this one, with some paper snowflakes for a delicate touch.
another really cool idea…suspend the branch over a table with some string and hang ornaments from it.
this awesome tree is a branch from outside, painted white and decorated with garlands and various found items like vintage potholders, crocheted doilies, cotton spools, buttons and thrift store figurines.
a neat idea, if you’re willing to nail a bunch of branches to your wall…
…or a bunch of items in the shape of a Christmas tree.
i think this might be the most creative idea of them all!

The first photo brings a lot of memories to me. Since I live in Southeast Asia, there’s no pine trees to be found. Back in my teen years, we can’t really buy the ones sold at the mall. So, what we did was cut up a nice looking tree branch at our backyard, wrapped it with a white crepe paper, hang a lot of cute vintage stuff on it, put smooth white stones at the base of the tree and voila, a white Christmas tree. =)

One EskimO is a london band, who have actually been around for a few years, but are just getting noticed here in the US thanks to the single “kandi” off their debut album! what’s interesting though, is that the band has teamed up with warner premiere to create a “visual album” consisting of ten videos in a series called “the adventures of One eskimO.” they are available for download on itunes.
if the animation looks familiar, its because the videos are produced by passion pictures, which also animated the gorillaz music videos. each band member in One eskimO takes on a character — the singer is the eskimo, the drummer is a giraffe, the guitar player is a penguin and the bass player is a monkey. i’m sorry, but that penguin is so cute! check out a chapter in the animated series below, for the song “kandi.” what do you think about the idea of making “visual albums?”
