february catalog location #1: zuma beach

as i told you last week, dan martensen was the photographer for our new february catalog.  the photos were shot in california in two outdoor locations and in a studio.  the first location was zuma beach, a large and popular beach in malibu, california that is known for its good surf.  our producer took these pics while our team was shooting – i wish i was there now!

fantasy luv spectacular

there’s a cool event taking place tonight at space 15 twenty in LA, the location of one of our newest free people stores.  they’re having a special “valentine’s fantasy luv spectacular” with a pop-up shop and a performance by sister act pearl harbor. really mellowed out, warm and fuzzy pop – perfect music as you browse for last minute gifts for your sweetie…

rest in peace.

My heart sank this morning when i logged on to The Guardian to check on the local news back home in England.
Alexander McQueen had Passed away, I couldn’t help but grieve.

He has been a maverick to the English Fashion Scene and an Iconic one at that. With a label such as “The Bad Boy” which came from his invention of the ‘Bumster’ in the 90’s. This Designer was out there to make a statement and that he managed to do every season.

Everyone warmed to him and his cheeky, daring attitude to Fashion.

I admired him for years and he was often an Inspiration to me when i was studying Fashion/Textile Design.

His Spring/Summer 2010 collection blew me away- It was Fashion/Art at its best!

I will miss you Mr McQueen!!!

dance dance dance

fp jemma is snowed in at home today but she sent along this post about one of her favorite artists right now, lykke li!

Lykke Li is slamming my ear drums and has been for the last few months- I love her!
This little swedish Pixie fills me with delight everytime I see a picture of her, everytime I see her cute little dance moves and everytime i stumble across a raw, acoustic video of her performing. The latest being-coming from my addiction with La Blogotheque- her collaboration with Bon Iver on Dance, Dance, Dance, where they both jam around a fountain with tambourines.

I feel like the song “Everybody but me” is my anthem. She gives a dusting of glitter to my everyday, so i just wanted to show some love.
