bonnaroo lineup – part one

Post image for bonnaroo lineup – part one

in the days leading up to a music festival like bonnaroo, it’s hard to think about anything else.  one of the first things you need to think about before going are what bands you definitely want to see, because it is never possible to see them all. there are two stages and three tents which all have shows going on simultaneously, so sometimes two acts you want to see will be playing at the same time.  bonnaroo announced the festival schedule last week and i immediately printed it out and highlighted the bands i want to check out.

here’s a look at some highlights on thursday and friday!

thursday

unfortunately we aren’t getting there until friday- so i was a little bummed about missing these acts!

fanfarlo

loacalnatives1

trapper

blitzen trapper

the-xx

here’s my tentative lineup for friday, which is jam packed with good bands…

Edward+Sharpe++the+Magnetic+Zeros+All+band

edward sharpe & the magnetic zeros

Dr+Dog+drdog3

dr. dog

st_shehim

she & him

the_national3

the national

Les-31

les claypool

0703_kings_of_leon_c

kings of leon

the kings of leon will headline friday night – fp jemma and i were talking about this the other day and we agreed – we want to hear the old stuff! i can do without the latest album please play “trani” and “joe’s head”!

late night

another great thing about bonnaroo? it never stops.  the shows go on late into the night and into the early morning. a couple of years ago my morning jacket went onstage at midnight and played until 4am – one of the greatest shows i’ve ever seen. if you can hang in, the late night shows are always good for dancing… here are some good ones on friday night/saturday morning:

Flaming-Lips-scream

the flaming lips

theblackkeys-promo

the black keys

lcd

lcd soundsystem

the first predicament of the weekend – the flaming lips play from 12am – 2am and the black keys from 12am – 1:30am.  i love the black keys so normally this would be an easy pick, but the flaming lips rock too and they’ll be playing  pink floyd’s the dark side of the moon in its entirety with star death and white dwarfs.  which would you see??

here’s a playlist of the above artists for you to enjoy!

I agree about Kings of Leon. However, I saw them in Columbus last September, and they played a good mix. And hopefully, for you, they will play the amazing version of Trani that they played then (they slowed it down and Caleb really dragged out the notes – it was incredible!).

YOU MUST GO SEE THE FLAMING LIPS! i saw them about two months ago and they played Eclipse and Brain Damage from Dark side of the moon, and of course they played their new cd. It was unbelievable. A TOTAL MUST SEE! I love the black keys too, but the flaming lips show is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Go, see, love.
