jenny lewis and her boyfriend johnathan rice have teamed up to record an album, “i’m having fun now”, and it sounds like just that – fun. warm, sunny pop rock is the best way to describe their sound – you may recognize jenny’s voice from rilo kiley, which she fronted. they’re also just a really cute couple. i remember reading an article in rolling stone a while back about the resurgence of laurel canyon, where some of the greatest music of the 60s was written. the article talked about how jenny lewis and johnathan rice would hold regular jam sessions at their laurel canyon home, in a style very reminiscent of the 60s – i thought that was pretty cool. you can definitely sense a little bit of that alternative spirit in some of their songs.
