A couple of months ago when our team was picking out items and thinking about outfits for our December catalog, some of our home office girls put on the outfits and modeled them – and fortunately our videographer was there to capture the fun on film :) this video is too cute and funny!

we just got in this little velvet romper the other day and it’s the cutest! jemma and i decided to each style an outfit using it – hers is a dressier, going out look that i could totally see her rocking on new years eve – or any night for that matter! my look is a more casual way of wearing it… this was actually a challenge for me, as this isn’t the sort of thing i would normally wear, but once i put on the denim shirt and socks i could definitely imagine wearing this when i’m just hanging around the house. it’s so comfortable and sexy at the same time!

i’m crazy about our collection of old west-inspired accessories. the colors are so beautiful… i don’t know what it is about turquoise and coral but it always draws me in. i love the idea of layering a whole bunch of these necklaces and bracelets. which is your favorite?

Brighten up your bottoms
I’m the type of person who usually stays in the safe zone when it comes to bottoms, jumping back
and forth with denim, black skirts and skinny trousers.
However, I’m getting a little excited about the evolving printed bottoms trend that is emerging –
Adding a little pretty, pretty to the below the waist is quite appealing. Tone it down by making your top half boy;
Plaid shirts, denim vests and waistcoats. Finish it off by adding a touch of frontier-esque – Throw on a rider
hat and away you go!
holiday downloads for you!
good morning! we have a new graphic design assistant and she made these adorable holiday downloads for the blog – the smaller one is iphone wallpaper and the larger one is for your computer desktop. but as our graphic designer suggested (and i agree) it would make such cute wrapping paper, don’t you think? just print some out and use it to wrap small gifts!

i am so excited to finally bring you the free people guide to new york city! you may remember a few weeks back, jemma and i went to new york to check out some spots we love and take pictures, and we’ve put together a guide of all of our favorite hotels, restaurants, hang-outs, shops and more. as you look through the guide, keep an eye out for the little red snowflake sticker, which indicates a place that’s great to go to during the holiday season!
there’s definitely a magical air in new york city around the holidays, and it would be the destination of choice for our candy girl who loves tradition and everything about the holidays – the decorations, the music, the smells and of course, the snow.

fp holiday gift guide: meadow
meadow loves to spend the holidays outdoors. every year she and her friends take off for a cabin in the woods where they spend nights huddled round bonfires drinking hot chocolate, telling stories and playing songs on guitars and wooden flutes. they wake up early to watch the sun rise before exchanging gifts on christmas morning.
win meadow over with gifts that appeal to her creative side and connection with nature. the vintage peter max postcards would inspire her artistically, as would a journal to record her thoughts and dreams. she would love our western-inspired jewelry like turquoise necklaces and rings, the native gypsy cuff and meeko feather earring. The lasso pony holders will keep her hair out of her face on adventures and she’d love the gretta over the knee slipper socks because they’re cute, comfy and environmentally friendly. meadow wears clothing that is special and unique like her, and the fp one desert florals maxi skirt would remind her of a field of wildflowers. the fp one bandana tie halter has the creative details she is drawn to, and she would live in the desert peasant tunic. finally, tough accessories like a leather crossbody or hat that will last her a lifetime.

the exquisite book
our graphic designers recently purchased a few books to use as inspiration – kevin and lizzy are both very talented artists and i love seeing artwork that they’re inspired by. one of the books is called the exquisite book and upon opening it, a fascinating visual experience literally unfolds before your eyes.
the concept of the book is based around a modified version of the surrealist game “the exquisite corpse,” invented back in the 1920s. using a single sheet of paper, one artist would start at the top by drawing a head, and would fold the paper over leaving only the neckline. the next artist would draw the midsection, not knowing what the head looked like, and the third would complete the body by adding legs and feet. then they would unfold the paper to reveal the character.
the book takes this concept and turns it into an entire book. the first artist fills the first page, and the next artist draws their page having only seen the page prior to theirs. the book is divided into ten chapters that are each made up of ten pages, or ten artists. the first artist of each chapter was given a phrase to start out with, such as “in the clouds…” or “in the mountains…” the results are fascinating! i love seeing how the artists feed off of each other.
