ponchos are typically thought of as a fall/winter thing, at least in my mind, but with our may catalog we decided to breathe some new life into the poncho as a light and easy summer layer – and the perfect beach cover-up. the idea of ponchos on the beach was first introduced to the fashion world back in the 70s – check out these images i found on tumblr!
these definitely play on the idea of using the poncho as a cover up and when you take it off, using it as a beach blanket – the boxy shape of ponchos makes them perfect for this. but that’s just one reason why they’re so great- in addition to being functional, they can also be really cute and sexy. here are some images I love of stylish gals rocking ponchos the summer way!
even heavier ponchos can work on a cooler spring/summer day- love how they look with shorts or a skirt and bare legs!
personally i can’t get over how this poncho is styled on our website with the nightcap lace bellbottoms. i would definitely wear this for a laid-back night out in summer after spending the day lounging on the beach!
items pictured: kona pointelle poncho, nightcap lace bell bottom – color coming soon!, on the fringe poncho, miranda sun hat, loa woven bracelets, fresno aviators, vacancy bustier bikini, arrow straw beach tote, terry cloth lined towel.

I agree!!! I love the idea of using a poncho as a cover up. Plus, I live in Norway, so the evenings get pretty cool in the summer and what better to wear ? <3
