from nyc: a weekend getaway

paige works in one of our nyc stores and sent along this lovely post about a weekend getaway to martha’s vineyard :)

I’m always dreaming of another land where my fairytale thoughts can come to life… and then I found myself in solitude on Martha’s Vineyard.

The beauty surrounding me in those four days was all the company that I needed. I’ve never traveled alone, and it was an incredible experience. I bunked in a hostel and took full advantage of the MV bus system, visiting every town, seeing everything the land had to offer. My days & nights spent adventuring through fields, trees and ocean. I walked through the State Forest in the rain, singing along to my own melodies, knowing in my heart that this trip signified so much growth for me. Knowing that I had taken myself to a place of isolation (no internet, no phone), knowing I had found that creative spark within myself; the spark that daily life sometimes burns out.

I documented my journey through a series of grainy film photos, a million scribbled words all over my notebook pages, dried flowers that looked up at me kindly before being picked; poignant songs that inspired, moved and compelled me to no end, and I even found ten beautiful seashells. It was wonderful.

Here is the playlist to accompany my journey:

Thanks everyone :) It was so lovely. I used 2 disposable Fuji cameras. Go by yourself if you go! So much peace.

i figured FP would feature my little island at some point…we perfectly embody so much the company represents. next time check out Blissed Out in vineyard haven, the coolest new age organic smoothie bar ever! (and just about the only place you’ll find a truly healthy meal)
