Pitchfork Music Festival 2011 Lineup: Who We’re Watching

Pitchfork Music Festival starts tomorrow and the lineup is pretty awesome — a mixture of indie cool and electronic. nothing beats live music and the open air.

These bands below have been transmitting their sweet sound airwaves into my ears for months, so I’m pretty excited about seeing them perform. Here’s my top hits from the Pitchfork Music Festival Lineup 2011!

Smith Westerns

With a shoe gazing rhythm, these guys from Chicago sure know how to send you into a dreamy mood, swinging your hips sweetly back and forth, their music is the perfect match for a road trip with your girlfriends. I love their sound. my favorite song is  girl in love.

Wild Nothings

Their album has become a non-stop play this summer; it makes my heart race fast and gives me a high that I can’t get enough of. Their album, ‘Gemini’ was ranked 49th best album of 2010 by Pitchfork Media, If you listen trust me, you’ll be hooked sweet chimes.

Twin Sister

Some bands can be swiftly categorized, but these guys are pretty difficult.

They’re an indie band whose music from Brooklyn New York – featuring guitar, bass, drums and electronics– is rhythmic, the female vocals are creepily cute, a breathy husky tone that is likeable. Their sound is sexy and gets you in the mood to dance!

So these are some of the bands I’m looking forward to seeing stay tuned for documentation of the bands next week!

Here’s a playlist.

I love all of these music/art posts!
well, i love all of your posts really. I just recently made the fp blog my home page and it’s a great way to start my day off and get inspired.
I know you sometimes post about artists and I thought of one worth mentioning…her name is Hannah Hooper. She’s also a member of one of my favorite up and coming bands, Grouplove.
Here’s some of her artwork:

and here’s a link to a grouplove video:

the band has a high energy and great vibe that I feel goes right along with the Free People attitude. enjoy :)

I love the Smith Westerns! What day are they playing at Pitchfork, though?! I don’t remember seeing them in the lineup.

*Wild Nothing is going to be awesome.
