Inspiration: Architecture in Venice

When I was reading the Guide to Venice that our producer put together, I was surprised when she said Venice is a city known for its decay – I’ve never been there and am not very familiar with it, but from what I’ve seen it looks beautiful and far from decay. But it’s true, and the same aquatic setting that also makes Venice so scenic puts its gorgeous architecture at greater risk of decay. In some ways this also adds an element of dramatic beauty and heightens the mystique of the city. In the behind the scenes photos from our shoot, Thomas Northcut also captured the dark beauty of the architecture in Venice…these photos take my breath away.

Alright, seeing all of these photos of Venice makes me so envious. This is absolutely amazing. I’ve always wanted to go to Italy, especially to Venice. I’m going to work for free people one day, that’s one of my life goals that I plan on achieving.

Knowing that Venice was founded between the 5th and the 6th centuries by the Barbarian invasions still is a modern city. The tremendous canal system developed, with a primitive building system makes even more a memorable and beautiful place to visit. This floating city has a strong sense of identity, because still preserve the same connections with Byzantine and Islamic Architecture, and most of the same uses, for instance the Piazza of San Marcos still is the main place to congregate people who go to visit Venice.
I really like your photos, it makes me feel as I were there!
