I’ve posted about Rosemarie Fiore before, but the timing was so perfect as she has some new works, and it’s the New Year so many of us will be seeing fireworks tonight/tomorrow! If you aren’t familiar with her work, she makes these incredible paintings with lit firework residue on paper – so cool.

The ancient Chinese used Rosewater to balance the energies in their environment. According to their traditions, the liquid holds special properties that help to equalize the two energies of yin and yang when they get out of whack.

What better way to bring in the New Year? Give yourself a fresh balanced start by cleansing your home with the fragrant elixir. You can either mist the air or use a cloth to wash the walls, countertops, tables, furniture, etc. I’ve personally decided to make 2012 a year about balance, so I like the idea of doing this as a metaphorical kickoff. Whatever your intentions, this is a great way to give yourself the gift of a fresh start to the New Year.

Just to explain further for those who are interested… in Ancient Chinese Medicine, yin and yang are two opposing energies that exist in everything. Every opposite has a either a yin or a yang energy (ex. night (yin)/day (yang), female (yin)/male (yang), cold (yin)/hot (yang), earth (yin)/heaven (yang), etc.). Although opposites, the yin and the yang require each other to exist, and together they form the symbol of balance. Sometimes, from the food you eat or the materials you surround yourself with, one can outweigh the other and special attention is required to get back on track. Often, the theory is used to understand personal health and wellbeing. When something is off – either with the body or soul – there is too much of one energy present. The key is listening to the cues and taking the steps to rebalance.

So, Ever since I saw this post this morning, I have been searching and searching for the first pictures FIRST glass bottle of Witch Hazel online. I just purchased Caswell’s Rose Water (2nd blue bottle) off of Bonadrag right now, but I REALLY REALLY would LOVE to learn the first glass bottles brand. Anyone??

  • I use Orange Flower Water – it’s calming and it smells divine! xx

I’ve always been in a state of searching for balance in my life as I do come from a Chinese background in which the dominant dogma is all about achieving the Middle Path, so I could resonate with this post. I’ve never used rosewater, but I’ll have to try it sometime. Lovely pictures/post and happy New Year!!

Get the look: Behati Prinsloo

December 29th, 2011 / Posted by fp jemma / Permalink

The Iron Lady directed by Phyllida Lloyd premiered this week in New York City; a film that takes a look at the life of Margaret Thatcher, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, with a focus on the price she paid for power.

Celebrities rocked the red carpet but one lovely lady in particular stood out – The beautiful model Behati Prinsloo created an immaculately cool Free People look that’s easily achievable yet attainably innate. We fell in love with her grunge but yet elegant look! Real style comes from within and she sure shows that.

Here’s how to get her look
