Office Style: American vs. British

In line with our catalog theme this month, I thought I would do some fun vs. themed office styles. Our home office has a surprisingly bountiful population of Brits who’ve crossed the big pond to work for Free People. They all have great style, so I thought that for this week I would do British vs. American style. I love them both, but tell us, which do you relate to more??

The Brits:

Welsh sisters! Both wearing an FP intimates top. Shop the updated version here.

I love that furry jacket on the British choices, but otherwise I’m totally into the American choices especially the American Rebel gone good girl outfit.

They’re both pretty similar in this post actually! I was ready to vote for the Brits, because American style has lately been all about grunge and tribal, where as Brits normally dress a bit more “granny-chic”. But the styles above just scream FreePeople to me. :P

The American style wins out for me. The American outfits appear to be better thought out. Some of the British styles look a little too effortless

I am American, but I do like the way the Brits are dressing here. :) And btw, I love seeing FP style clothes on women of more average size!

I have absolutely no preference to either one socially but as far as the Office style….. America all the way! Everything is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye…..the fit is better, color, comfort, combinations… America

Wow! I love the Brits’ fun, glam sensibility! I understand that it is part of the US consciousness, but I feel like the American gals are a bit too shabby-grunge and underdressed, since this is “office” wear. Save for the lady layering a long-tailed grey sweater over a white tee with pink cords and distressed Blundstone-type booties! Love that look.

the Brits. The dramatic sleeves on the dress with the foxes are gorgeous- OH, and is that a very useful pocket I spy….?!!! Love the crochet maxi dress with the hair scarf too- it would also be awesome with a 40’s hat.

I’m going with America! Just that “free” vibe I get from their clothes is just so inspiring– it’s what Free People is all about! The Brits colors seem so drab– yet they still look really chic. I love the American rustic vibe overall though… the paired layers upon layers of different fabrics and textiles just screams fashion free of rules and regulations.

As a Brit living in the USA, I have to admit that the Brits have a certain class of style that is timeless. We also have that quirky eccentric side to us that comes out in the fashion. What I love about Free People is that it mixes styles from all over the world, not just American fashion and that’s why I love it!!!!!
