It’s a sunny, happy day in Philly and I have some equally sunny and happy music to share with you, from the band Islands.
It seems these days that there are a lot of bands that fall into the same “indie/pop/shoegaze” category, and upon first listen you may think that this is just another one of those, but in listening to their new album A Sleep & A Forgetting over the past couple of days, I’ve noticed that there’s something about their music that sticks with you – whether it’s the organ and crooning chorus in “Can’t Feel My Face,” the persistent keys in “Never Go Solo” or the guitar in “Lonely Love.” It’s perfect summer music, or perfect dreaming of summer music, as is the current case. They’re in Philly this Friday playing two sold out shows at the First Unitarian Church (a second was added due to popular demand) or you can catch them playing the Free at Noon at WXPN ;)
Listen to a few of their tunes below and let me know what you think!
