Tunesday: Q&A with Slow Club Band

Slow Club is a folk rock duo made up of Charles Watson and Rebecca Taylor, hailing from Sheffield, England. I originally heard about them when a blog reader recommended them, and I’m so glad I checked them out – I love the breezy simplicity of their music and the 60s elements that are sprinkled throughout.

Not only is Rebecca Taylor gorgeous but she’s got impressive pipes and also plays guitar and percussion – sometimes on objects like glass bottles and chairs. They were just listed by stylecaster as one of the hottest indie acts from this year’s SXSW festival, and were kind enough to answer some questions for us!

Where were you when you wrote your first song, and what was it about?
I think i was at my Grandma’s house. I have no idea what it was about.

If your music was a place, where would it be?

Where do you draw inspiration for your music?
Music, films, eavesdropping.

If you could collaborate with any other musician, dead or alive, who would it be?
Michael Jackson

What sort of music do you listen to? What’s on your ipod right now?
Motown. Nu page, Frankie Valli, Lodi, Flamma Sherman.

Describe the time leading up to a show – do you have any pre-show rituals?
I think it depends on where we are. Ive been sleeping at the merch desk a lot on this tour.

Avvon Black

Tell me something most people don’t know about you.
