A Curious History Restlessly Shifting

Alkahest is a series of paintings by artist Jonathan Saiz, who worked on the series while living on the island of Mykonos.  I love the incorporation of classical as well as modern imagery — it feels like looking at a museum gallery through a prism. His description of these paintings reads  “In this crystalline form everything is made of the multitude – the spendors of Versailles, the rearing stallion and other distractions or ambitions. A curious history restlessly shifting, its charged particles and reflections dissolving into a universal something. Its mystical alignment ordered by instinct or impulse where themes emerge through incoherent leaps and the vague impressions of something more about to appear or having just faded.”
