It’s that time of year where swim becomes an important thought: summer vacation, weekend park hang-outs and the notion of being free. We love a good bikini — it’s a necessity.
Here at Free People we think about swim as a lifestyle — we daydream about the beach girl, so we wanted to find out what our fashion manager and buyer for swim and intimates are thinking about this summer.
I am currently obsessed with NY summers: the fireflies at night, rooftop BBQs, cycles through the tree-lined streets, beach days to the Rockaways, avocado for breakfast, homemade kale juice, Hawaiian oil, como shambala body lotion, rooftop yoga, Indian print bikinis, mix and match bikinis, cotton beach throws, Neil Young, and harvest moon.
When I think about Free People swim, I think of…
A girl who jumps out of bed at 7 am, the sky is blue and NY is waking up… she goes to the roof and does her sun salutation… pure escapism in an urban dwelling… makes herself a green juice, then heads to the Rockaways with her friends, surf’s up. Salty hair and sun-kissed skin, Rockaway taco snack, subway home, watch the sun set behind Manhattan. Sleepy, bed.

right there with ya…I recently just moved from Broadchannel, NY which is a 5 minute hop to Rockaway Beach…to the Catskill Mountains – miss it so much!
