By Tracy Allen ~ Week of July 2 – July 8, 2012
June 21-July 22
With a full moon shining in your relationship angle on Tuesday, don’t rule out the possibility of drama. The common belief that people go a little nuts on a full moon isn’t altogether untrue. If anything does hit the fan, your saving grace is that energetic Mars cruises into your domestic zone that same day. At the first sign of trouble, head home and throw yourself into baking, crafting, cleaning, furniture rearranging—anything that relieves your frustration with the outside world. And if the full moon doesn’t cause a stir? Even if you’re not hiding from drama, you’ll still get a lot done at home in the next couple of months, while Mars revs up your inner domestic goddess.
July 23-August 22
Warrior Mars’ entry into your communication house, interpreted quite literally, can mean fighting words. And during Mars’ seven-week stay in this section of your chart, an argument or two is likely, though not inevitable. But if you use this planetary placement consciously, you can marry heat and words for a higher purpose. This is a time when you’ll be able to convey your ideas with fiery enthusiasm. Your heartfelt passion for what you’re saying and writing will come across with a great deal of power. Just make sure to avoid over-identifying with your beliefs and becoming dogmatic or defensive. But if you’ve got an idea that you want to sell, with the purest of intentions, now’s your chance!
August 23-September 22
Hopefully you’ve been highly productive the last seven months, hosting active Mars in your sign for much longer than usual, thanks to his winter retrograde. This week, Mars leaves Virgo and enters your money sector, encouraging you to grow your resources—especially as they relate to whatever you’ve been so busy doing. If you’ve built up your skills, look into ways to translate that into dollars and cents. Or if you’ve developed a new passion, make the necessary financial decisions that will allow it to flourish. Align your actions with your values, allotting resources to what’s most important to you now.
September 23-October 22
Do you have trouble asserting yourself? Feisty Mars in your sign (from Tuesday until August 23) will make you a force to be reckoned with. As long as you’re careful not to become domineering, people will pick up on your strength and energy. Mars gives you drive and keeps you busy, so clear your schedule of clutter. The courage, boldness and vigor associated with Mars will enable you to accomplish a lot and to tackle things that you may have found daunting in the past. Take advantage of the chance to make a strong impression—whether
you’re going on dates or job interviews, this is the time to show them what you’re made of.
October 23-November 21
Your co-ruler Mars marches into your soul sector this week, joining Saturn, who’s been parked there for the last two and a half years. You’ve been keeping an even lower profile than usual, going within, sorting through the skeletons in your closet and finishing up old business. Mars can cause trouble in this area if you’re not conscious of your behavior and the buried anger that’s behind it. Deal directly with the emotions that you’ve stirred up with all your soul-searching, rather than acting them out. And since this is naturally a secluded, spiritual period when your ego needs to take a backseat, by all means enjoy your solitude, but also consider reaching out to others with an unselfish purpose: to be of service.
November 22-December 21
With doer Mars moving into your group house, it’s time to pick your team. You’ve probably checked off some big goals since last fall, and now you’re switching gears, looking to the future. Sags are always up for adventure, but you shouldn’t fly solo on your next one. It’s tricky, because Mars’ pioneering, fighting spirit can have a “Me, me, me!” influence. But it’s best not to only think in terms of yourself while this planet’s transiting through the part of your chart that’s all about alliances, networks and friends. The danger during this time will be the temptation to highjack a group and start a mutiny, so temper your fire a tad and link up with those who already share your interests.
December 22-January 19
“You’re a shining star, no matter who you are. Shining bright to see what you can truly be.” ~Earth, Wind & Fire
Mars storms your ambition angle this week, while the full moon glows in your sign. Whatever you do, don’t hide your light under a bushel now! In a patient climb to the top of the mountain, surely even the most cautious, pessimistic Goats permit themselves a brief imagining of moments like this—when you reach the summit and plant your flag. Be smart about not stepping on an authority figure’s toes, but allow yourself to bask in in the glory of your achievement. If the accolades aren’t forthcoming this week, not to worry. Mars is at the top of your chart for almost two months, so when you do see the spotlight, walk towards it.
January 20-February 18
Your intellectual sign is naturally curious, usually gravitating to the cutting edge. And when kinetic Mars shows up in your expansion zone this week, you’ve got a mandate to push past boundaries and to journey far and wide—in your head and/or on land and sea. This house in your chart is where you broaden both your mind and your horizons. It’s where you seek answers and meaning, through philosophy, religion, education and travel. You’ll get an itch to do those things in the coming weeks, and if you don’t scratch it, you could become restless and impetuous. So book a trip, learn a language, read the Bhagavad Gita—expand!
February 19-March 20
On Tuesday, Mars charges into your transformation sector, where he’ll be hanging for the next seven weeks. For many people, even this catalyst planet’s presence there would be incredibly subtle, because it’s such a hidden, mysterious part of the chart. But intuitive Fishes will probably pick up on the nuances to come. Areas of life where you may detect a shift: shared resources, including loans, grants, inheritance, taxes, joint bank accounts and even recycling and other ecological concerns; intimacy, closeness, sex; psychological crises and complexes; and taboo issues such as death. That doesn’t mean a planet transiting this house invariably precipitates an actual death! This is the house of regeneration, and profound change occurs through the process of death and rebirth. Mars likes to fight, so when you do pick up on any of the above, don’t fight against change. Fight for the rebirth.
March 21-April 19
Your ruling planet, Mars, has been in your tasks sector for more than seven months, during which time you’ve toiled away, paying attention to details, working out the kinks in everything you’ve attempted to do and prioritizing. Mars finally moves on this week, so it’s time to share whatever you’ve been working on. Joseph Campbell, an Aries, describes this part of the hero’s journey thus: “At the return threshold…the hero re-emerges from the kingdom of dread….The boon that he brings restores the world.” Dread’s a strong word, but Rams haven’t been too thrilled with this period of attending to the mundane. Start to bring your gift out into the light, and embrace the opportunities over the next several months to gain feedback and rewards.
April 20-May 20
What do you need to learn in order to be better at what you do? The full moon lights up your higher-education house this week, emphasizing the importance of knowledge. At the same time, Mars leaves your creativity sector, where he’s been since November, and moves into your service zone, where he’ll spend the next seven weeks. The purpose in this area of your chart is to fine-tune your function and to make your work useful. Here is where you slow down and perfect your contribution to the world—honing a job skill, revising your thesis, adding tools to your toolbox. Dedicate yourself to improvement in the coming weeks, paying special attention to an artistic pursuit that you’ve given a lot of energy to lately. Cultivate it ‘til it’s ready for prime time.
May 21-June 20
With ruler Mercury in its native communication zone and Jupiter and Venus in your sign, you could charm Brad away from Angelina. (But show some solidarity—Angie’s a fellow Gemini!) And when Mars enters your play-and-romance sector this week, summer fun is all but guaranteed. Make your own fun if it doesn’t seem to be hatching spontaneously. No matter what else you’ve got going on now, you’re due for some pure pleasure. And a national holiday always helps us to carve out some playtime. Ride your bike to the nearest body of water, sit on a park bench drawing caricatures of passersby, flirt with someone you’ve had your eye on—whatever makes you feel like summer is in full swing, and so are you.
