CANCER

June 21-July 22

Crabs have an innate facility with money, because security’s a big thing with you. That doesn’t mean all of you are financial wizards, raking in millions on Wall Street. But you do have the potential to manage your assets quite nicely. You’ll need to rely on that aptitude when Mercury goes retrograde in your resources zone this week, upping the chances that you’ll make some not-so-great spending decisions in the next few weeks. If you can keep that in mind, you can spare yourself from accumulating unnecessary debt. Cancers are also natural worriers—so nudge yourself to do a bit of healthy worrying when you pull your credit card out this month.

LEO

July 23-August 22

With the moon at the top of your chart, sociable Venus and exhilarating Jupiter in your friend zone and chatty Mercury in your sign, you’re feeling outgoing, not to mention dazzling. And since Leos are ruled by the sun, you truly are meant to shine. But when Mercury turns retrograde this week, your ability to convey your brilliance verbally will be seriously hampered. Instead, do what you do so well: ooze charisma from every pore, express affection physically, act on your generous impulses, let your face and body language tell the story of what you’re feeling. You don’t even need to string together a sentence to express yourself.

virgo star sign illustration

VIRGO

August 23-September 22

Whenever your ruler, Mercury, goes into reverse (which it does this week), it offends your love of precision. For Geminis, the other sign ruled by Mercury, its retrograde period frustrates their proclivity to conduct information. As a practical earth sign, you’re less motivated by the mere messenger role of Mercury and more interested in cataloguing and correcting the information. But now it’s as if a gust of wind comes along and messes up your neat little piles. Make the best of it by giving up trying to control the maelstrom and using the kaleidoscopic rearrangement of info to gain a fresh perspective.

LIBRA

September 23-October 22

Saturn has been in your sign since what seems like the dawn of time, making life difficult, but also helping you to become more mature, responsible and constructive. Since he left his five-month-long retrograde period a couple of weeks ago, the light at the end of the tunnel has begun to come into view. When cerebral Mercury in your group zone harmonizes with Venus in your future sector this week, try to talk with friends about what you’ve been through these last few years—and what you want to happen in the next few. Yes, it’s been a rough road, but it’s getting smoother. And it’s time to start envisioning where you’re headed.

SCORPIO

October 23-November 21

With planets going retrograde in your job sectors this week, you’ll find that the pace of career-related change slows momentarily, giving you the chance to do a little digging. You have a gift for research, detective work (and admit it, spying!), so figure out what level of sleuthing is called for, and get to work. What contacts, information and groundwork are required to get you to the next level? In other words, who or what do you need to know, and what needs to get done? Be really honest with yourself, and acknowledge if you haven’t dug as deep as you need to—either in terms of all-out effort or in terms of fact-finding. It’s likely that you’re holding yourself back in some way.

SAGITTARIUS

November 22-December 21

Your combination of energy and optimism tend to produce a general excitement about the future in your brain, so you’re happiest when you’re hurtling forward, preferably into the unknown. But when Uranus starts backtracking in Aries (another go-go-go sign) this week and Mercury does the same in your expectations house, it may feel like you’re stepping on the gas with the parking brake on. It won’t be as aggravating as when action-oriented Mars was retrograde this past winter, but life is not proceeding at your optimum speed nonetheless. Take this opportunity to gather intel. Things aren’t going to fall into place as fast as you’d like, but for now, do your homework so you’re prepared when they do.

capricorn star sign illustration

CAPRICORN

December 22-January 19

With your predilection for planning and your drive to achieve, you Capricorns are like chess champions; you think in terms of strategic moves. Even with all that ambition, you can see that sometimes your best move is to call a timeout. In fact, considering that laborious Saturn rules your sign, you understand better than others that life is full of growth opportunities disguised as obstacles and delays. In her book Radical Acceptance: Embracing Your Life with the Heart of a Buddha, Tara Brach writes, “The image of the Buddha seated under the bodhi tree is one of the great mythic symbols depicting the power of the pause.” When two planets turn retrograde this week, contemplate the power of the pause.

AQUARIUS

January 20-February 18

Interactions with others get tricky this week when your ruling planet, Uranus, turns retrograde in your communication sector and Mercury, the planet that rules communication, does the same in your relationship angle. So that’s a double dose of miscommunication—and since Mercury’s in theatrical Leo, there may even be a little drama to boot. The best thing you can do is to see the humor in all of it. If misunderstandings crop up over incidental stuff, let it roll off you. Eccentric Aquarians pride themselves on giving people leeway to march to their own beat. Try to remember that, if you get exasperated or bewildered.

pisces star sign illustration

PISCES

February 19-March 20

Your mission in the next few weeks—while mental Mercury travels backward in your daily-routine zone—is to rethink your regimen. Is the way that you’ve consciously planned out your time helping you to meet your goals? Is there any unconscious pattern of activity that’s in conflict with your stated desires? You’re a dreamer who’s often yearning for something that seems to be floating in your peripheral vision and eluding your grasp. Is it possible that revamping your schedule could somehow make that dream more concrete and bring it within reach? Is there a way to incorporate the pursuit of your dream into your daily life more? Ask someone who knows your habits well if you’re having trouble coming up with answers.

ARIES

March 21-April 19

The moon in Aries the first half of the week clicks and clashes with various other planets, meaning some of your endeavors will be easy while others prove somewhat more challenging. Challenges not only try your sign’s patience; they bring out your instinct to blow past barriers. When Mars was retrograde over the winter, hopefully you learned the benefits of regrouping when faced with a challenge, rather than automatically pushing through the resistance. Uranus in Aries and Mercury in Leo (another enthusiastic fire sign) turn retrograde this week, reminding you of that lesson. Mars’ retrograde called for modified action, while Mercury and Uranus will emphasize mental activity. So when you meet with opposition here and there, look at it as an opportunity to stop and rethink.

taurus star sign illustration

TAURUS

April 20-May 20

Venus’s retrograde in May and June took an emotional toll on all of us, but Taurus and Libra—both ruled by Venus—were especially affected. Although you should be feeling a little more on your game, now that Venus is getting back up to speed, when Uranus and Mercury turn retrograde this week in your seclusion and home sectors, you’ve got planetary permission to chillax and nurse your wounds. If your ego has taken some hits, grab a bunch of Post-its and jot down what you like most about your physical appearance, then stick them on every mirror in your home. Write an exquisite love letter to yourself from an imaginary partner who sees what you want people to see in you. Pick one of the five senses every day, and give it a dose of pleasure. Self-administered TLC…just what the doctor ordered.

gemini star sign illustration

GEMINI

May 21-June 20

When Mercury goes retrograde—which it does three, sometimes four, times a year—nobody feels it more than Geminis and Virgos, because it’s your ruling planet. Brace yourself: Mercury’s backtracking from the 14th ‘til August 7th or 8th (depending on your time zone.) And since it’s in your house of communication and the effervescent sign of Leo, you’re positively brimming over with brainstorms and speeches, not to mention fleeting ideas and idle chitchat. During Mercury retrograde, there’s often a gap between what you intend to say and what you actually say—and then another one between the words coming out of your mouth and the words people hear. Hold that thought when the message is getting garbled, record important ones in voice memos and use this time to develop brainstorms into genius schemes.

Ah so true for me, the pisces.
