Guest Post: 5 Favorite Beauty Tips From The Girls At Free People By Our Beach Designer

Our Beach designer Emma caught up with 5 of our Free People girls to find what their summer beauty secret is.

My favorite summer trick is to air dry my hair, spritz in some salt spray, scrunch and massage my scalp — this ensures that air gets around the hair at the scalp and stops it from drying flat. By the time I get to work it’s still a little damp, but beachy and wavy!

Megan’s is a bit of a make-it-yourself…

“I love a green clay masque with apple cider vinegar. I just use basic green clay that can usually be found somewhere like Whole Foods, and mix it with apple cider vinegar. It’s very purifying and gently exfoliating. I follow it by a masque made from plain yoghurt with honey, which is moisturizing, brightening and anti-bacterial all at once. Beauty products in your kitchen/that you can eat are a big love of mine!”

Avalon also shared a few make-up tips with us — I must admit, the lipstick trick is a love of mine too. Lipstick instantly makes you feel ready for the day when you don’t feel like wearing a full face of make-up. Avalon likes a darker shade but I am leaning towards more peachy/orangey shades right now.

“My favorite trick is to fill in my eyebrows to make them stronger and to frame my face. I use Mac eye shadow in “Wedge” and a small brush. I also love to wear dark red lipstick on days where I don’t want to wear other makeup.”

Gemma is a mani-pedi lover, especially in the summer, and at the moment she is loving glitter!

“I love glitter nails because they be blingin’… I wear glitter on my toes, my fingers and have on occasion been known to wear it in my hair. Glitter is my summer favorite — glitter for breakfast, lunch and dinner!”

Doub has a great tip for caring for your skin after those long sunny days at the beach, and I am the biggest fan of anything coconut!

“After a day at the beach, right before you get out the shower, lather yourself up in coconut oil!!! It is a great moisturizer and very cooling on sun tanned skin.”

Product: Spectrum Coconut Oil

I use coconut oil as well. I use TIANA Fair Trade Organics Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. It is premium quality, Certified Organic and Fair trade and it has a superior taste. It is pure Cold pressed oil which is 100% raw. I try to ensure it is free from Genetically Modified Ingredients and free from Trans-Fats as I use it in my cooking as well. I also make sure it is free from Cholesterol as I cook for my parents also.
It is unrefined and non-hydrogenated.
