Shop With Purpose: New Bracelets Benefiting United Against Malaria

During their visit to beautiful South Africa, the catalog team joined forces with Relate – a nonprofit charity – to create one-of-a-kind beaded bracelets. The bracelets have a good cause behind them and will hold a special place in someone’s heart. They are truly empowering as they allow their designers to earn a sustainable income, develop new skills and have access to enterprise development programs. With the purchase of each bracelet, a contribution goes to the United Against Malaria campaign which offers life-saving benefits. The bracelets are beautiful and simple enough to go with most things. Free People is proud to join Relate in their mission to create opportunities that change lives in South Africa and beyond.

Here are some behind-the-scenes photographs from our team’s visit to the South Africa workshop:

it’s just too bad that out of the $8 it costs to buy the bracelet, only $1 goes to the people in Africa… :/

Even if only $1 out of the $8 the bracelet costs goes to the people in South Africa, it’s better than $0.

$1 goes to buying nets for the Global Fund and another $1 goes towards the wages and skills development for the workers.

Beautifully done I love the bright contrasts in the color of the beads. We are quick to judge but $1 can make a big difference and in this case could save a life. Keep on keeping on great idea!
