By Tracy Allen ~ Week of September 17-23.
This week’s heavyweight bout between Uranus and Pluto is the second of seven such encounters. The first took place on June 24, and the last will occur in 2015. Each of their meetings repeats the same theme, but at a different point in the cycle. Ideally, we’ll all progress from “Why is this happening to me?” to “What is the lesson?” To enhance this week’s forecast, you may find it helpful to refer to your June 24 horoscope.
August 23-September 22
The 2012-2015 battle between Uranus and Pluto heats up again this week, as these two planets form another exact 90° angle to each other. Uranus is helping you to unload old psychological baggage and break free from someone or something that has a stranglehold on you. He’s also bringing your dark side into the light in the most unexpected ways. In addition, it’s possible that you’ve experienced a death, or a sudden loss that felt like a death—and this has changed you on a profound level. Pluto has brought an intense love affair; powerful feelings about children; or creativity that comes from a deep place within you. Perhaps all of the above. Virgos naturally want to analyze everything that’s been going on, and it’s okay to do that. Just don’t try to control it. Financial or self-esteem issues could activate all of this now. You’ll find a welcome respite hanging with friends or engaging in group activities.
September 23-October 22
Pluto has been digging up your childhood memories the last few years, pushing you to deal with buried family issues or problematic emotions that stem from your early years. As social as you are, a big part of you has been withdrawing, going deep down into the black hole of primal feelings to relive them and heal them. If you’ve ever thought about going to therapy, this is a good time to do it. Uranus is affecting a different kind of change in a different area of your life: He’s making waves out of the blue in your relations with others. A friend or partner isn’t acting like her/himself. People are behaving unpredictably. You may have gone through a breakup or you sense one coming. Console yourself with the thought that the disruption in your relationships is necessary to the extent that they’ve become stale. Mercury in Libra gets in the middle of the Uranus-Pluto conflict this week, so it’s likely that something you say or think or write will stir all of this up inside you. Your career sector is outside the battle zone, so seek refuge in your work.
October 23-November 21
Your ruler, Pluto, goes direct this week and once again dukes it out with Uranus. Pluto’s been in your communication house the last few years, pressuring you to express what you’ve been holding in. It feels like a volcano could erupt out of your mouth and it will kill people to finally hear your truth. But it’s killing you not to find release valves now and then for all the molten lava that’s been building up inside you. You restrain yourself partly out of your need for control, but you also hold back because Pluto and Scorpio are so intense you fear you’ll decimate people if you unleash the full force of your emotions. Even if you don’t destroy them, you’re pretty sure you’ll scare them off. The other major unrest in your life is linked to Uranus. Changes in your health, your job, your schedule and your responsibilities are forcing you to rethink how you prioritize your time. Are you spending your time wisely? Are you doing essential work? Are your skills as sharp as they could be? How can you do a better job every day? Where are you most needed? Dreams, gut instincts and your spiritual practice can bring these issues to the surface this week. Travel, learning, and an optimistic philosophy or mantra bring comfort.
November 22-December 21
Pluto in your resources house has been brewing up a financial crisis or a crisis of confidence since 2008, and he’s provoked by a run-in with Uranus this week. Your possessions, your income and your values have been slowly transforming, and you’re working to rebuild some sense of security and stability—within and without. The big question on your mind is something along the lines of “What’s going to keep me going?” To navigate through the turbulence, make fortification your main objective. Fortify your net worth and your self-worth. You also need to pay attention to Uranus’s action in your fun sector. This rebellious planet is bringing out the teenager in you. He wants you to find out who you really are by experimenting with your identity, then express the true you to the world. This can mean anything from lots of playtime to an unusual love affair to bursts of creativity (and procreativity, so stringent use of birth control is advisable if you’re not trying to get pregnant!) Friends and other groups may act as a catalyst this week, waking up these issues. Intimacy, therapy and any form of detective work are your best tension relievers.
December 22-January 19
Agitator Uranus in your childhood angle has been trying to get you to pull up the rotted roots in your family tree and set yourself free. Dysfunctional patterns that you acquired early on and carried into adulthood with you need to be done away with. Separate the healthy roots that have given you a firm foundation and fostered your growth from the unhealthy ones that have hindered you and kept you from being all that you can be. Aim for an intellectually detached perspective on the emotions that you tend to wallow in, the wounds that you lick. It’s unsettling to call up painful memories from the past, but Uranus helps us to keep a cool head and take the broad view. Pluto is also doing his part to contribute to your growth. Since he entered your sign in 2008, he’s been calling on you to transform your definitions of power and success. Your old goals have gotten you this far, but you’ll need new ones to carry you into the future. What’s not working in your current career scenario? What is slowly starting to seem more relevant to your life? Pluto has been retrograde since April, but he turns direct this week, bringing the Sturm und Drang above ground and helping you to have an impact again. Your career will mobilize you this week when Mercury in your ambition angle gets into the Uranus-Pluto fray. One-on-one relationships are your best emotional outlet.
January 20-February 18
Your ruling planet, Uranus, has been shaking things up in the part of your chart that concerns habitual thinking; curiosity; writing; reading; communication; siblings, neighbors and other people you encounter routinely; and short local or domestic trips. You’re extra inquisitive lately. Information seems to be coming at you faster than ever and unexpected news has practically become the norm. Cognition and daily activities are both moving at warp speed. However, Pluto—a much slower-moving planet—is causing more gradual and subtle shifts in your unconscious. You feel rumblings in your psyche, but haven’t been able to tap into their meaning, except in dreams, meditation and intuitive flashes. The “bad” parts of you are surfacing and causing you to subvert yourself lately, and you don’t know why. Psychotherapy can be highly beneficial during this cycle. You need to confront anything hidden so that it ceases to control you. While the Uranus tumult is visible and external, the Pluto stuff is invisible and internal, therefore harder to get a handle on. Travel, education and religion might set off a chain reaction this week. Work, exercise and making yourself useful should offer comfort.
February 19-March 20
Erratic Uranus in your finance zone has meant losses and gains you didn’t see coming and sudden fluctuations in your resources. Although your confidence and financial stability have seen their share of ups and downs lately, here’s one thing you can be happy about: The way you make money is or will be changing. How you handle your finances, your attitude about money, and what your stuff means to you are all in flux. At the same time, Pluto is causing you to question your herd mentality. Who do you have goals and interests in common with now? Where are you headed in your life, and who’s moving in a similar direction? You may be creating more substantial friendships and a deeper bond with a new group that suits you better these days. Something your significant other or a close friend says this week could touch off your current issues. Fun, romance and creative expression can ease the tension.
March 21-April 19
For months now, you’ve felt the strain of Pluto in your ambition angle pitting long-term goals against Uranus in Aries’ impulsive calls to action. Should you diligently climb the corporate ladder or should you chuck it all to trek the Himalayas? Your concept of the mark you want to leave on the world is evolving, as you realize that your previous idea of success isn’t the Holy Grail you built it up to be. The snail’s pace of that evolution doesn’t suit you Rams, and it’s bringing out your fight-or-flight instinct. Until you embrace the fact that your place in the world is changing, it will continue to feel like someone other than you is perpetrating the change and taking their sweet time. It could be your boss, a corporation, the government, a parent—some type of authority figure or system. Regardless of who or what seems to be in charge, you just want it to be over with so you can dive into something new. Your urge to act is overwhelming at times, but the old dream has to die before it can be replaced. Something someone says this week may stir up the Uranus-Pluto conflict, and your best outlet for the tension will be home or family.
April 20-May 20
Bulls are known for being stable and reliable, qualities associated with their aversion to change. But like all of us, you’re undergoing big changes now whether you like it or not, courtesy of Pluto and Uranus. Your worldview is in the midst of gradual upheaval, and you’re not sure what you believe anymore. Your faith and philosophy have been shifting the last few years. Until you’ve got a new vision firmly in place, it’s a little scary. Try to give up old dogma to make room for a deeper, wiser perspective. You also need to let go of the illusion of permanence and control, as Uranus travels through the last house in your chart. Surrender your love of the tangible and predictable, and welcome intuition, dreams, spirituality and change from the inside out. As a Taurus, you may be reluctant to celebrate that your life is changing, but once you’re on board with it, you’ve got the strength and tenacity to thrive in your new world order. The tension of this week may be triggered by your job, a coworker’s words, your health or critical, perfectionistic thinking. Potential stress relievers: reading, writing, siblings and neighbors.
May 21-June 20
Lord of the underworld Pluto in your deep-emotions sector has been leading you through a sort of psychological purgatory since 2008—an uncomfortable process for you easy, breezy Geminis. Your sign, with its forever-young spirit and sense of wonder, is the puer aeternus or Peter Pan of the zodiac. But you’re feeling older and more mortal nowadays, thanks to the dark places in your psyche that Pluto has taken you to. Incidentally, psychotherapy or some other form of self-work can be helpful during this period. While Pluto has been dredging up all these feelings in you, Uranus has made you question who you are in relation to others. What types of people do you identify with? Do you suddenly want to break free from your group or rebel against peer pressure? Is it possible to be both an iconoclast and a joiner? Who gives you a sense of belonging right now? As you experience fundamental psychological change, be open to finding new friends who reflect today’s version of you. Creativity, self-expression, children and lovers are all possible catalysts this week. Shoring up your finances and indulging your five senses can ground you.
June 21-July 22
Pluto has a life-or-death feel to it, and while he’s been transiting your others’ angle the last four years, this thought has probably crossed your mind: “They’re trying to kill me.” That’s because you’re experiencing the powerful force of death-and-rebirth as something coming at you from the outside, rather than as an internally generated process. Since Pluto is in your opposite sign of Capricorn, it’s inevitable that you’ll project his energy onto others. The nature of your bonds is changing, as that life-or-death feeling has permeated your relationships. Meanwhile, Uranus—who favors erratic disruption over Pluto’s slow burn— is flipping the script in your career. As security-minded as you Crabs are, you’re tempted to rebel against the powers that be and take a flying leap off the path you’ve been on. And if you’re not feeling that yet, at the very least, you’ve noticed a change in how the world sees you or what you want to accomplish in the world. Thoughts or a conversation about childhood; family (especially a parent); and home life may set you off this week. For comfort, pay close attention to your own needs and tend to them.
July 23-August 22
Leos have a gift for inspired, joyful, spontaneous self-expression and creativity, but Pluto is in a part of your chart that demands you distill those natural tendencies. Pluto wants you to recognize that you’re not perfect and that you need to do the following: acquire more skills; become more efficient, useful and necessary; work harder to refine your craft; take more responsibility for how you manage your time, your work and your health. Uranus, on the other hand, is urging you to be more adventurous and optimistic, to have new experiences that bring fresh insights, to rock your world by learning about things that seem completely foreign to you. How you’re living your life now and how you could be living your life in the future are the two main areas of change that Pluto and Uranus are working their magic in. But as a Leo, you know that the real magic comes from within you. These external changes are registering on an internal level and giving you a unique opportunity in the next few years to recreate your life. Interaction with siblings or neighbors, as well as various forms of communication may trigger you this week. Spirituality, solitude and sleep will soothe you.
