Menswear Trend: 2 Ways To Wear Tailored Pants

The menswear trend is a perfect transition from your light and summery days into a more masculine fall wardrobe. There’s something about borrowing from the boys that gives you a certain cool attitude that transmits an “I mean business” personality.

The androgynous look has been inspiring us a lot lately – we love looking towards the likes of Patti Smith, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Lou Doillon for ways to make this look work. We believe the key to getting this look right is to have a great pair of menswear bottoms, whether they are utility, tailored or a slightly baggier herringbone flare and made of a fabric that translates the masculine vibe. We took our Herringbone Menswear Pant and created two looks, one for a more casual vibe and the other for a more sophisticated look.

Which look do you think works best for you: look 1 or 2?

Look 1: The Sophisticated Vibe (above)

We teamed the Herringbone Pant with little heels and a thermal with a contrasting soft knit sweater, and made it a little playful with a bowler hat.

Product: Herringbone Menswear Pant, Pixie Collar Sweater, Hippie Cuff Thermal, Estella Heel, Felt Boater Hat

Look Two: The Casual Vibe

These pants work really well with Converse shoes. For those easy, carefree days, team them with a basic top, denim jacket, scarf and a hat – it gives the look a much looser feel.

Product: Herringbone Menswear Pant, Hippie Cuff Thermal, Diamond Embroidered Denim Jacket, Vintage Check Studded Scarf, Tommy Studded Chucks, Felt Boater Hat

Which one would you chose to wear?

I prefer the first look. Not sure what, but there’s something that doesn’t sit well with me about wearing tailored pants with a jean jacket.

I also prefer the first look. I think if the top was tucked in the second look (so some of the smart detailing on the pants contrasted with the slouchiness of the rest of the look) the second one would be a winner, too.

That it not FP’s Hippie Cuff Thermal, it’s their Kombucha Cuff Thermal.
