Blogger Diary: A Perfect Fall Day Trip

I have been wanting to take a day trip up to New Hope, PA for quite some time now, and this past weekend I finally did it. We chose this weekend so we could check out the annual arts & crafts fair, but ended up having more fun just wandering around the town and enjoying the gorgeous fall day.  Located about 40 miles north of Philadelphia, it takes less than an hour to get to New Hope – but once you’re there, you feel like you’re in a completely different state. A small town on the Delaware river, New Hope is full of antique shops, small art galleries, and quaint restaurants. After a day of walking around we ate on a balcony overlooking the river and enjoyed the quiet serenity for a little while before heading back into the city. It’s amazing how refreshing it can be to be in a different place for just a little while.

Where would you go for a fall day trip or weekend getaway? I’d love to hear about it. :)

Oh, that looks so nice. You may have inspired me to take a hike sometime this weekend, maybe out past Gettysburg in the mountains that way. I live in Shrewsbury, and, actually, the photos you’ve taken all remind me of my area. Train, bridge, antique shops, and all.

Hey Julie – my birthday is coming up Oct. 24th…I want to spend it in Philly…where would you recommend I go…? I want to shop, eat and just hang out!

Beautiful! Makes me wish I was on the east coast, but I’m sure there are plenty of getaways here in the midwest too. Inspiring!
What kind of camera or after-processesing did you do to take such sweet photos?

I go to New Hope every fall and during the Christmas season! It’s so beautiful. You should check out the town of Jim Thorpe! They usually have a fall festival and the town is so cool :) oh and you can take a ride on the train!
