How We Wear Free People Face Jewels

Post image for How We Wear Free People Face Jewels

Have you guys seen the new beauty section on our website? We are so excited to now be carrying items like soap, nail polish, lip balm and face jewels – with more to come! I was immediately intrigued by the face jewels, which come in three different sets with really pretty colors and styles.  They are the perfect addition to your look for the upcoming holiday season – especially New Year’s! We called them face jewels but there are a number of ways to wear these little gems, and we had some fun trying out some different looks as inspiration. The best part is, they’re self-adhesive so you don’t need any other supplies and they stay on surprisingly well! How would you wear our face jewels?

On the hand: these make a really cool and unique alternative to rings! Simply place them on your fingers and hands in whatever pattern you desire. We love putting small jewels below the fingernails!

On the face: Adding a few small jewels below the eye gives you a pretty and mysterious look that will definitely catch someone’s eye. Play around with different shapes and colors depending on your mood!

On the neck: I’ve been thinking a lot lately about getting a tattoo on the back of my neck, so that was one of the first places that came to mind to put these jewels. It’s a great unexpected spot for a jewel that’s a bit larger and more ornate.

Behind the ear: Behind the ear is another cool spot that I’ve been noticing tattoos in lately, and this is a great option when you have your hair pulled back.

On the ear: pile them onto the ear to give the appearance of earrings! This is especially fun for someone who doesn’t have pierced ears, like myself. :)

I love you Free People….. but these are absurdly over priced. you can get authentic indian bindi for 2 dollars a package online.

These aren’t “face jewels.” You’re taking a culture’s tradition and skewing it for purely aesthetic purposes. Bindi’s aren’t worn on the ear or behind the neck…or fingers for that matter.

I agree with Jess. I love your store and most of your products, but I don’t agree with taking something sacred from another culture and using it to get “a pretty and mysterious look”.

I am ready for some halloween costume inspiration from you guys !!!!

Come on guys I really don’t think there is any disrespect. I mean Madonna popularized wearing the rosary with a cool but completely crazy outfit and last I checked she’s NOT A NUN! Lol :)

I don’t think it’s disrespectful at all.. They never SAID they were bindis, they are just another accessory. I love the look, but I agree you can buy jewels like this much cheaper at other places. I like the one on the back of the neck.

Why are people looking into the meaning of these jewels so deeply? Has no one ever seen pretty jewels wore simply for a fun purpose? Theyre not trying to take something “sacred” and make it playful. Its body art—like temporary tattoos. Its not that serious
