It’s been a little while since a new album came out that has really blown me away (not since these, and the new Neil Young) – but there have been some new singles popping up that have me really excited about the upcoming albums from these bands! Check out three new tracks I love below – and also, if you’ve gotten any awesome new albums lately please let me know, I would love to hear some suggestions!
It feels like forever since the last Local Natives album came out (in 2009) so when they released the first single off their forthcoming album Hummingbird a few weeks back, I could not contain my excitement. Now, to be completely honest – I was not blown away the first time I listened. But like many great songs, it has grown on me and I cannot wait to hear the full album! I love the background effects that make it seem like you’re at sea, and the chorus crashes over you like a wonderful wave.
The girls of Haim have released a couple of new tracks this month, giving us a little taste of what to expect from their highly anticipated full-length album. I’m a big fan of these girls and their fresh, unique sound. Of the two new tracks I’m partial to “Send Me Down” – listen to both below!
Last but not least, I’m a huge Yo La Tengo fan and I always find myself listening to them a lot this time of year, so I’m very excited about the release of their new song “Before We Run” off the upcoming album Fade. It’s a gorgeous track that soothes the soul like a bowl of warm soup.

Love these music posts!
Have you listened to Amy Macdonald’s new album “Life in a Beautiful Light”?
It’s really good – equally good as her two previous ones (“This is the Life” and “A Curious Thing”).
I think Amy Macdonald is very Free People – she is a free spirit who does her own thing and that reflects in her songs.
Maybe you could do a post about her in the blog? Please? :)
Here is the music video of “Slow It Down”. It has a very Free People feel to it!

another cool album is Tame Impala’s Lonerism. definitely worth a listen
Dreamer – I will check her out! and Sam, I love that album! Wrote about it here – http://blog.freepeople.com/2012/10/3-music-releases-love/ :)
ummm OBSESSED with Local Natives – I cannot wait to hear their new album… Love that they are catching on!!
local natives all the way! I saw them live at lolla 2011 and was completely blown away! I already have my tickets to see them at the house of blues in Boston and can’t wait for their new album!
I had never heard any of the songs you posted, so it was a nice treat! My fave was Haim. I am currently obsessed with Kimbra and Ellie Goulding – everybody needs to check out all of their songs. Boom!
I am also obsessed with Local Natives!! So amazing!!
Also, you should check out Lemolo from Seattle. So good!! I’m loving all these small emerging indie bands!

Milo Greene is amazing. Definitely check them out!

Try the new Mumford and Sons album, it’s amazing and I can’t wait to see them perform at the Barclay center in February! Also, Of Monsters and Men and The Lumineers…they won’t disappoint!
My current fave is Serena Ryder – her music is a mix of ethereal and earthy. She reminds me of home (she grew up in the same area I did), and she reminds of the mistakes I’ve made and the hope I have that things will only get better. Also, since she has strong folk rhythms, hand-clapping and foot-stomping are a must!
You have to check out Melody’s Echo Chamber, if your a fan of Tame Impala!!
