Starry Eyed: Holiday Makeup Tutorial

Post image for Starry Eyed: Holiday Makeup Tutorial

I am not a makeup person – I think it’s beautiful on other people but I’ve just never been able to master it. However, this season I’ve been really inspired by statement makeup for holiday parties and New Year’s Eve. I love the idea of wearing glittery makeup and face jewels on special nights when you just want to have a good time and really shine. Makeup can be so much fun, it’s like artwork on your face, and this is definitely the time of year to really experiment and get crazy with it. Here are two looks I concocted that would be so much fun for the holiday party season.

The first look can be achieved with Vaseline, cosmetic grade glitter, and Free People Face Jewels. Cosmetic grade glitter is ultra-fine and won’t harm your skin.

I mixed the glitter with Vaseline and put it in a little compact case so I could re-use it.  Mix as much glitter as you desire – I used a lot because I wanted it to really sparkle and catch the light! Apply this mixture freely to the eyelids and underneath the eye. Then add in some Free People Face Jewels underneath the eyes, in whatever colors and pattern you desire!

For the second look I really loved the idea of using star glitter. I applied the same Vaseline and glitter combination as above around the eye, and then just applied the glitter stars on top – the Vaseline helps them stay put.  Be careful not to get any stars in your eyes!
