November 22–December 21
Three planets are hanging out in your seclusion sector, so you may still be in the mood to hide out. But with the moon transiting over the public-oriented top of your chart and chatty Mercury picking up speed after its retrograde phase, there’ll be times this week when hibernation no longer holds as much appeal for you. Sagittarius is out of its element when holed up inside, but you definitely have felt the need to recharge lately. Don’t feel pressure this week either to stay in or to go out—go with the flow of your moods, led by the emotional moon. As a fire sign, you’re not as naturally attuned to your watery emotions as you are to your energy level, so practice checking in with your feelings.
December 22–January 19
Mars is acting as a catalyst in your ambitious sign, while Mercury and Venus are enlivening your networking zone, but none of these planets have been jibing with no-holds-barred Jupiter in your colleagues sector, so tread lightly at work. Continue to put out feelers with new contacts, and allow yourself to get a little more excited about the goals that you’re on the brink of adding to your grand plan. With Mars in Capricorn, you can certainly accomplish a lot, but there’s no need to advertise your efforts. In fact, you may want to play it close to the vest now, since three planets are passing through private Scorpio and the ego-oriented sun is lighting up your secrets house.
January 20–February 18
When Mars is transiting the last house in your chart, its aggressive energy is just outside your peripheral vision. This placement can make you seem like you’ve got a chip on your shoulder, because the warrior god’s anger is right there for everyone to see—everyone but you. In this position, Mars’ volatility can easily undermine your conscious intentions. The best way of dealing with it is to stay alert to how people are reacting to you, then look to Mars as a possible cause. This caution is not meant to make you paranoid, but rather to steer you toward a greater awareness of your unconscious behavior this week, an exercise that we can all benefit from at times. If Mars does pose a problem for you now, ask yourself what’s fuelling your anger, and come up with a healthier outlet for your aggression.
February 19–March 20
If you can swing a getaway this week, travel will cure what ails you. That’s because Mercury is picking up the pace in your journeys house, while Venus and Saturn are also there, tugging your mind to far-off lands. Distance always has the advantage of offering us a broader perspective on our everyday insular lives. You need to put yourself in a different place so you can see things from a different angle. If a trip is out of the question right now, simply find another means of attaining a fresh viewpoint. For example, music, a novel, a movie, a travel blog or a museum exhibit can all instantly transport you to a foreign setting. Think of something that takes you out of your comfort zone and helps you to conceive a new way of being. Your brain needs some serious shaking up in order to envision and manifest a brighter future.
March 21–April 19
Your need to communicate is strong, with talkative Mercury traveling direct now in your psychology zone and excessive Jupiter in your verbal sector coming off a rollercoaster week of contact with other planets. The likelihood of blowing things out of proportion in your head is substantial, so share your thoughts with people whom you can trust to give you a reality check. You’re frustrated over a lack of direct forward progress and could use an outlet, but the Catch-22 is that your usual release (action) is the very source of your frustration. Venting offers some relief and clarity. Also, Mars is in your ambition angle, suggesting that executing small action steps to work towards a large goal is your best bet for success.
April 20–May 20
Even if you know on a logical level that you’ve got a lot going for you, believing it wholeheartedly and acting accordingly is another story. Unfortunate expressions like “not in your league” imply that we all have an objective measure of worth that will be revealed to us on the open market, such as the dating scene. Thankfully, nothing could be further from the truth. Rejection slips from book publishers don’t offer indisputable evidence that you’re a bad writer. With expectant Jupiter in your worth sector and standard-setting Saturn in your others angle, you’re in the uncomfortable position of wanting to feel really good about yourself while looking to others for confirmation. Although Saturn is making it feel like you require external validation, what this time is really about is proving yourself to yourself—but on the playing field. That means you’ve got to get in the game. Take your hard-earned self-esteem and show people what you have to offer. That process is the end right now, not the means, so don’t concern yourself with their response.
May 21–June 20
The enthusiasm that Jupiter in Gemini has infused you with over the last six months has been both exhilarating and overwhelming, and you’re approaching the halfway point of its time in your sign. Last week, Jupiter had encounters with the moon, Venus, Mars and the sun, triggering a heightened response in you that epitomized your experience with this too-much-is-never-enough planet. And now, with a lunar eclipse and Mercury retrograde under your belt, it’s time to get back to business. The dust should be settling after your mental implosion, so start picking up the pieces. Try to separate out the salient points from all the info that’s been flying at you, and concentrate on those now. Jupiter can inspire you to take on the whole world at once, but think small this week, picking out a few things that you can do well and see through to the end.
June 21–July 22
Now that clever Mercury is moving forward again in your creativity house, it’s time that you breathe new life into an idea. The moon passes through your confidence, cognition, foundation and fun sectors this week, so believe in it, think it through, ground it and then play with it. And regarding that first step, optimistic Jupiter is still retrograde in your subconscious zone, so you may have to dig deep within yourself to tap into the wellspring of faith that seems to have gone underground. It hasn’t dried up, though. Having faith in your creative vision disquiets your risk-averse nature, and you need to ask yourself why. Figure out what you’re afraid of so you can invest in yourself more completely.
July 23–August 22
You’ve put a lot of time and energy into the extended network of people in your life since expansive Jupiter went into your affiliations zone in June. With Jupiter’s involvement in the lunar eclipse and his brushes with several other planets last week, one or more of those relationships may have hit a rough patch. But Mercury has turned direct in your roots angle, where amiable Venus is already happily ensconced. So take this time to solidify your base. Reach out to your family members who feel like friends and friends who feel like family—in other words, the people who really know you. Repair any damage that may have been done during Mercury’s retrograde, a period that’s often rife with misunderstandings. And if you’re feeling nesty, hosting an intimate gathering will boost your mood immensely.
August 23–September 22
Now that your ruling planet, Mercury, has gone direct, you can get back to functioning at full capacity—almost. The catch is that Mercury is in the house of your chart that’s ruled by Gemini, and Gemini just happens to be the sign that you share your ruling planet with. The Twins express a very different side of Mercury than you do, and while the trickster planet is transiting this part of your chart, your challenge is to learn to think like a Gem. Try to absorb information without judging it. Ask open-ended questions, while resisting the temptation to pick apart the answers and mentally fix the problems you detect. Take everything in, free from your usual analytical filter. Welcome the element of surprise into your life.
September 23–October 22
Values-oriented Venus, your ruler, is traveling through your resources zone, and mental Mercury just turned direct there. So this is a good week to take a step forward in managing your money and/or your possessions. While Mercury was retrograde the last few weeks, you likely stumbled over a problem in this area. Do you have too much stuff? Did you go overboard on Black Friday? Is there a way for you to increase your income? Do you feel like you’ve got your priorities straight when it comes to spending and saving? Do you want to do something different for holiday gifts this year, such as giving homemade presents or contributing to charities? You don’t have to tackle all of this at once, but do at least one thing to act on a financial or material realization.
October 23–November 21
This week is Mercury’s last in your sign until next September, and it’s getting up to speed after finishing its retrograde last week. Although it’s never going to act like a chatterbox when in your secretive sign, Mercury’s current direct motion will coax you to come out of your shell a bit. You’ve been grappling with trust issues, and yet with attraction-principle Venus also in Scorpio, you haven’t completely pushed everyone away—try as you might! Besides pulling people in, Venus’s time in your sign also intensifies your desire, and that can make you feel more vulnerable. Plus with co-ruler Mars adding extra force to your communication, you’re aware of the possibility that you’re coming on too strong. But the truth is, you’re a strong, intense sign to begin with. So what you’re really afraid of right now is showing your hand, being yourself. Take advantage of the concentrated Scorpio energy that’s circulating this week, and face your fear.
