Whenever our catalog team travels somewhere to shoot, I always ask them about their favorite hidden gems in the city – local cafes, bars, and shops they discovered on their trip that I would otherwise not know about. They always seem to have a knack for finding charming locations! Here are some of their favorite discoveries from their time in Amsterdam shooting our January book, and photos from their trip!
Café Vlaming was like home to us during our trip! The owner, Nelly, and her daughter Cleo showed us around, let us work out of their space, fed us and opened the café up to us whenever we needed it. The best food and people.
Paddle boats are a great way to see the city and get a little exercise.
Take a bike ride to Vondelpark and have a picnic! Biking in Amsterdam can seem intimidating but it’s not – it’s so much fun.
The 9 streets district is a known area for good shopping, from home goods to shoes. Thrift stores are amazing in Amsterdam! No matter which store you wander into, there are such great items to be found.
Jordaan was our favorite more local area… beautiful little streets, bars and restaurants.
At night, Melkweg always has a fun show going on, and Paradiso is another amazing venue. Hannekes Boom is another fun young hangout spot.

this is where I’m from :) happy to see it on the blog!
What camera did you all use? Beautiful.
What a SUPER photo’s. This is for every body the best time, but you know go 20 km outside to the city
Haarlem is also SUPER and more relaxer. Frans Halls Museum, Theylers Museum and 9 km to the
beach Zandvoort of Bloemendaal. By train 20 min . to the city Haarlem and all the small shops and no problems with the parking.
Beautiful Photos!!
Great photos. We were there in September. We had a fantastic time. We did a walking tour with a small local company called omy. The best thing was that we were invited onto a small local boat like your first photo. It was a perfect sunny day. Mmmm, sick for Amsterdam now. Thanks again for the memories.
Wauw, I love those pictures! Hugs from the Netherlands! ;)
