I have to admit I’m a sucker for romantic comedies and dramas. Whenever my boyfriend leaves town I have the guilty pleasure of nestling on the couch searching through Netflix trying to find a good romantic movie that makes my heart melt. One of my all-time favorites is Sleepless In Seattle. I know, I know, most people would cringe at my liking it but I just can’t help it, every time I watch it my heart melts.Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are great together, although I find it slightly strange that they played a similar storyline together in You’ve Got Mail. But, I still like their chemistry. I find that these movies help you to see the magic of love and around this time of year they are perfect to watch. We want to know what your favorite romantic movie is and don’t be shy…. we love cheesy ones too!

I adore “La fille sur le pont” by Patrice Leconte! ;)
I love the Notebook…but I also like The Family Man…it is a bit cheesy but it’s a favorite of mine.
Goodbye first Love is an amazing romantic movie. I highly suggest it!
My favorite is a newer one, Charlie St Cloud. No matter how many times I watch it I still cry.
Moulin Rouge!
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – I can watch it over and over again and never grow weary of it!
Across the Universe- because it’s fun and fuels my Beatles obsession, and of course, Crazy Stupid Love because everything about it is great and also Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are in it so A+ !
i absolutely love amelie. i could watch it over and over and never get tired of it.
Love Actually is hands down the best! Bridget Jones is good too.
Amelie is my favourite.
It has to be True Romance. Clarence and Alabama’s whirlwind romance and the clothes make me die everytime. I wanted to be Alabama Worley so badly from the very first time I saw it! x
Its a hard choice between Romeo and Juliet (1996), Tristan and Isolde, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I think if I had to pick it would be Romeo and Juliet (1996) because Leonardo DiCaprio is fantastic in the movie and Claire Danes is just down right breathtaking! OH and the soundtrack is pretty brilliant as well.
Love Story and Love Actually are fabulous and I could never choose between them! Love Story has a bonus… Ali MacGraw’s preppy style is AMAZING.
I’m not big on romantic movies, but I loved Monsoon Wedding! Also, Buffalo ’66 if that can count.
Mozart and the Whale – such a touching love story – and possibly my favorite! Oh, and I must mention Josh Hartnett is the main character for all you Hartnett fans out there. ;)
Amelie and Moulin Rouge! And Harold and Maude <3
Wristcutters: A Love Story <3
You couldn’t have Sleepless in Seattle without An Affair to Remember (Cary grant ad Debra Carr). I have seen once a year since I was six and still cry.
Stardust is magnificent!!!
The Princess Bride…hands down.
Oh man, Legends of the Fall every time. It might not have a happy ending but it’s so dramatic and romantic it gets me every time. Plus Brad Pitt is a stone fox.
“You’ve Got Mail”. I will stop and watch no matter where it is in the movie.
The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds! Love it!
Garden State, or Breakfast At Tiffany’s!
Like Crazy is a great one.
A Room with a View, Before Sunset and Before Sunset
Breakfast at Tiffany’s and LaVita Bella. Both are fantastic <3
Buffalo 66′ – by far my most favorite love story. <3
I’m adore Julia Roberts. I love Notting Hill and Runaway Bride.
my guilty pleasure movie would be “Practical Magic”.. it is straight up 90′s rom-com cheese but i love it! i’m a 90′s kid anyways. the movie has such a girly sense of magic and love.. the movie takes place in a beautiful victorian by the sea too. and every girl likes to feel a bit witchy sometimes :)
Just married with Ashton kutcher and Brittany Murphy, soooo what will most likely happen to mean great laughs and an adorable ending!
It is not really a love movie, but I love the movie Another Year. It’s about two married people though.. When I growup I want my marriage to be just like theirs. They are such a happy couple <3
Elizabethtown! Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst and a fantastic soundtrack. What could be better?
Breakfast at Tiffany’s, P.S. I Love You…
Les Parapluies de Cherbourg is amazing! It makes me wish I could speak french :)
Last Night, with Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington. Simple yet amazing. And the soundtrack is really something fantastic that just sucks you into the film. Highly recommend. It’s also on Netflix ! So check it out if you have!
BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE!!! I have a picture of Audrey in her lbd hanging in my room :) Two free spirits find each other :)
Also no girl can deny two classics the notebook and titanic. Both tear jerkers
Almost Famous for sure! rock n roll! Second place is Gone With the Wind. I love Vivien Leigh
I love Funny Face with Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire! Amelie is pretty isanely difficult to compete with as far as amazing cute romance comedies go. Love the two Audreys (Hepburn and Tautou)
Leslie i love that movie! i watched it in a french class once ;)
Tristan and Isolde
Pride and Prejudice
The Lion King is my favorite one. I like most movies with Johnny Depp like What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Arizona Dream, Edward Scissorhands… There are many movies with Keira Knightley that I like too: Atonement, The Edge of Love, Pride and Prejudice and others :)
And don’t forget to watch 8 Femmes!!!
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Moonrise Kingdom! These are my two favourite films and I just love them both so much. A bit odd, but that’s what I like in a film. :)
valley girl
(in no particular order)
Blue Valentine
P.S I Love You
The English Patient — I’ve only watched it once but it made my heart melt. Who knew Ralph Finnes was so hot and I think Kristen Scott Thomas is just beautiful in it.
Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, though they’re not strictly romance
Pride and Prejudice
Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina….visually stunning, and Tolstoy’s story is eternal <3
Before Sunrise and it’s sequel Before Sunset
simple films yet so great
definitely a must watch!
I have so many of them…but since we’re talking about 90′s cheesy, how about Hope Floats ;)
I watched Sleepless In Seattle this past weekend with my boyfriend – hadn’t seen it in ages and it was *just* what the doctor ordered. Also! If you have never seen An Affair To Remember – watch it immediately! It will give you a whole new appreciation for Sleepless In Seattle. The scenes where the women all cry at the movie are much more justified! :)

Hi Sarah,
I will for sure watch that movie! thanks for sharing xxxx
ghost with demi moore
Harold and Maude is probably the only romantic comedy that I have ever liked.
I also like “Running on Empty”, although not completely a romantic movie it has quite a bit of romance in it and is probably the next closest thing to a “romantic movie” as I will ever get. Both are worth a watch if you’ve never seen them.
Before Sunrise and Titanic – nothing better!
Crazy, Stupid Love may be my favorite love movie. It’s funny and sweet without being cheesy–a tough balance to strike! I’ve also recently gone to see Silver Linings Playbook and loved that too..it shows how love can be found in the unlikeliest of places, even when we’re having a hard time loving ourselves.
I can’t believe nobody mentioned When Harry Met Sally! Best love story ever! I also agree with Rae on Funny Face, Such a great film (and such great eye candy)
Can’t buy me love!
I love the movie Serendipity! It’s so cute and I’d like to believe that the universe does work in ways we can’t explain.
Anna Karenina , Blue Valentine , Last Night and Pride and Prejudice :)
Amelie and Stardust!!!
500 days of Summer “I love her smile. I love her hair. I love her knees. I love how she licks her lips before she talks. I love her heart-shaped birthmark on her neck. I love it when she sleeps. “
it just has to be P.S. I Love You! Wit, art, great music, friendship, and a love that just defies death? I’ve watched it a million times!!! +Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Gerard Butler, I could just go on and on, but really, need I say more?;)
Restless.
Love Actually. The Village ((watch it as a love story, not a horror movie, and I guarantee you’ll gain a newfound appreciation for it.)) Sixteen Candles.
What Dreams May Come! It is the only movie that ever made me cry and it still does every time I watch it. Such a beautiful movie.
Life is Beautiful! I named my dog after the main character, Guido : )
Tristan and Isolde- One of the strongest stories of a love true enough to tear countries apart.
Overboard- Super cheesy but I’ve been watching it since I was a wee one and it still makes me laugh every time I watch it (even though I have the entire movie memorized). And I love Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn together <3
A Knight's Tale- A great rom. com. with a little action thrown in. I love the medieval essence but with a more modern approach.
My favorite is Practical Magic.. hands down!!
I could literally never list all of my favorites. I have at least 50 tied for #1! There are so many different styles of romantic movies I enjoy. Some of my favs have been mentioned by others. I will add some nobody has mentioned.
My favorite Meg Ryan rom com is “French Kiss”.
“Valentine’s Day” follows the same exact concept as “Love Actually” but in L.A. on V-Day: mega star loaded and comprised of numerous individual stories that are all linked by the end.
The best movie I have seen in a long time is an indie just released to DVD last week: “Celeste & Jesse Forever”. This one is much more cerebral but also hilarious – not a cheesy feel good Hollywood romance.
Pride & Prejudice forever and ever and ever… And Amelie!
Love Actually has become our traditional Christmas movie but it’s a beautiful tapestry of love stories of all types!
Love Affair with Warren Beatty and Annette Benning…beautiful Katherine Hepburn….gorgeous movie.
My go to “what should I watch” rom com is Under the Tuscan Sun. When I feel blue or cold in winter or lonely for friends, this is the one I throw in.
Lovely.
The original, ‘The Ghost and Mrs. Muir’ and ‘The Quiet Man’ both oldies but goodies. Classics
This “peanut butter jelly time”-toast loooooks yummy!
And my favourite love movie is SERENDIPITY :D
