Jade Castrinos of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is one of my favorite style icons from the world of music. She seems like she came straight out of the 60′s, with her hippie spirit and style that would fit right in at Woodstock or Haight-Ashbury during the summer of love. If she had been alive back then, I bet she would have been on Ken Kesey’s Magic Bus. Seeing her perform live is such a joy – she always has the biggest smile on her face and she dances around with her tambourine like a magical sprite. She started Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros with Alexander Ebert, and while he often takes center stage as the frontman, she is a hugely important part of the group and the one behind their most popular song, “Home.” I absolutely love this quote from her (found here) and I think it sums her up pretty well: “The other night we had a show in Montana and it was just incredible. We had one of those moments when everyone is jamming and we become a unit and everything syncs up in the room. Those are the ones. The soul shakers. The moments when I understand why I’m on earth.”
