The Hush Sound is an indie rock group out of Illinois who are back with their first new music in five years! The band consists of lead vocalist Greta Salpeter, Bob Morris, Darren Wilson, and Chris Faller. They formed a decade ago when Greta and Bob were in school together, and over the years their music has developed and matured along with them. This week they are releasing two new tracks, their first since 2008’s Goodbye Blues. “Not a Stranger” and “Scavengers” are incredibly catchy and the type of songs that end up on carefree summer mixtapes and get played on repeat in the car with the windows down. Both will be available for purchase starting at noon EST today. For now watch an exclusive behind the scenes video with the band as they talk about their history together and their new music – and read on for an interview with the lovely Greta Salpeter!
Somewhere between Brigitte Bardot and Woody Allen. French New Wave meets tomboy clothing.
What do you like to wear while performing?
Comfortable things that won’t malfunction during shows. Dresses and tights, skirts and button downs, etc.
What essential items do you always like to have with you when you travel?
Clothing essentials are layers — schoolyard cardigans and preppy sweaters, a letterman jacket, many different colors of tights, and always a few pairs of comfortable walking shoes and boots.
Other essential items — I bring a single burner stove so I can cook for myself always. Plenty of good books and a camera.
What are your go-to beauty products?
I’m pretty simpleminded with beauty stuff. I love all natural brands like Lavera and Dr. Hauschka. Eyeliner, mascara, lip balm is about all I use.
What albums are you currently listening to non-stop?
Kurt Vile’s “Constant Hitmaker”, Margo Guryan’s “25 Demos”, John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band “Mind Games”.
Describe your music in three words.
