March Catalog Location: Lompoc, California

Post image for March Catalog Location: Lompoc, California

Our March catalog was shot in two locations – in a studio in New York City and in a stunning field of flowers located in a town called Lompoc, California. The fertile valley of Lompoc, located in Santa Barbara County, and its coastal climate, make it one of the world’s leading producers of flower seeds.  Referred to as the “Valley of Flower,” come spring and summer the land becomes a breathtaking rainbow of colorful flowers that from a distance look like a spectacular patchwork quilt.  Our catalog team knew it was the perfect backdrop for our catalog, and shot models Alana Zimmer and Dorothea Barth Jorgensen amongst fields of color that perfectly complimented their outfits. In all my time spent in California I can’t believe I never visited this place in person, and it is now on my list… I just want to frolic through the flowers wearing all the items in our March book! Here are some dreamy photos from Lompoc California and what I’d wear if I went there.

I think I might just have to make myself a flower crown and wear it to work, even though I am a 34 year old respectable university lecturer & mother :o) Actually I will make a few!!!

Us locals usually refer to Lompoc as “Lompton”. About the only thing good there is the wine in the Santa Rita Hills (known for the Pinot Noir) and well…. the many many flower fields! How funny you guys were so close! I highly look forward to checking out the scenes in the March catalog! Hopefully you were able to venture into the Santa Ynez Valley just over yonder and see some of those parts! And Jalama Beach is always a must-stop too! xxxo

Being from San Luis Obispo (the neighboring county), I had no idea Lompoc had so many flowers! I agree that the best thing our area has is Big Sur nearby and the wine, but things like this is a stunning addition to that list! For more flower fields, visit the wildflower blooms off old highway 58 and Shell Creek Rd. The hills are covered in color during the spring!

Many Lompoc locals do NOT call it “lompton” and if you’ve ever been to the other “-ompton” you’d see why. Lompoc has a few rough patches, but overall, it’s a quiet town with a lot of hidden gems and less crime than other cities in Santa Barbara county. And we have some pretty upbeat city leadership! They are constantly working hard to save local businesses and bring new ones in. Let’s all have a little pride for Lompoc!

So beautiful, the March catalog is the best thus far!!
May I suggest a potential future catalog shoot location? Please consider Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site in Cornish, N.H. It has romantic gardens with various flowers from spring through the fall, a mountain view, green fields, bubbling brooks, trails, a rustic barn filled with old carriages, and the artist’s studio & home built with Greek/Roman architectural influences. Check it out!

Thank you for coming out to our beautiful flower fields… we enjoyed having you out for the photo shoot. The March catalogue is stunning! Lompoc is a beautiful valley with many opportunities from wine to flowers to artistic murals on local businesses. Come visit this hidden gem in Santa Barbara County and visit the local flower farmers and fields.

I live in Lompoc and am always breathless when I see photos of the beautiful flowers that are grown here. Maybe, I should “stop to smell the roses” more often.

Makes me think of our local tulip fields! Never thought they’d be good for a photoshoot.

Lived there junior high through high school and could not get out of that small town quick enough!! It took a week after graduation, but only because it took that long to get my graduation present: luggage!! Only go back to see family and friends at reunions. Did you get to “enjoy” the fabulous fog and wind?! What a treat. Too bad there are hardly any flower fields left, and too many FCI prisoners’ families that moved in to be close to their inmate-loved ones.
