Summer is a time when I feel most free… there’s a glow on everything, there’s a sweet scent that floats in the air. I love when my skin feels sun-kissed and a slight breeze cools me. The days seem to go a lot slower in the summer, like the time freezes inside a golden bubble. The ocean calls me, entices me to play around in its salty waves and soft sands daily. Summer is a time for daydreaming, a time for the imaginable and a time for sun-kissed loves with everything you know… summer is my favorite time of year. The summer is mine.
I’ve always dreamed of having a room in my home where the floor is covered in a sea of pillows and blankets, and nothing else. While a room like that is out of the question in my current one-room apartment, I still think it’s important to create a space that’s dedicated to relaxation. We have a new book club read this week! I’ve recently been reading great reviews about Joan Didion’s novel Play It As It Lays and bought it to start my series of summer reads. There has been much praise about the literary quality of this book. I love descriptive writing more than anything and a book written beautifully kills me every time, so I thought I’d give it a go. Play It As It Lays is about American life in the late 1960’s – it captures the mood of an entire generation, set in a place beyond good and evil – literally in Hollywood, Las Vegas, and the barren wasteland of the Mojave Desert.
Once again I’ve returned from a music festival with a whole new list of music to check out! Unfortunately most of these are artists I missed in Indio, and later regretted missing after hearing people rave about their shows!
