5 British Summer Hotspots

The UK has some of the best summer hotspots: fine scenery, culture, history, good food… if only it had the weather behind it I would be itching to go back there more often. You can travel for 2- 3 hours in the UK and you feel like you’re visiting another country. There’s some diversity, so much newness in each place and so much culture to soak up. It truly is a great country — one that will keep feeding you more and more. Here are my 5 favorite hotspots in the UK!

Stonehenge

This is the oldest man-made structure and is one of the world’s most famous sights. This Bronze Age monument has a lot of myth and mystery behind it and catching the imagination of many, nobody really knows about its beginnings. It has puzzled generation after generation. During the summer modern day Pagans and Wiccans will gather there amongst other people looking for a spiritual lift. It’s one of my favorite places and is definitely worth a visit.

Canterbury

Have you heard of the Canterbury Tales? Canterbury is a beautiful town in Kent and is one of UK’s most historically significant cities. It’s home to England’s oldest school — the King’s School — and stands as the home of the Anglican church.

Bath

Bath is one of my favorite places. I love the Bath stone and the beautiful buildings. Its character speaks to the wealth of Georgian architecture and Roman habitation. It hosts magnificent Roman Baths, the Jane Austen Centre and the beautiful Royal Crescent, which is a row of 30 terraced houses that are slightly curved. It’s one of the greatest examples of Georgian architecture.

Cornwall

Whenever I hear the word “Cornwall” my mouth starts to water because it has me thinking about the delicious Cornish pasties. It has the most breathtaking coastal scenery and landscapes. It’s a great place to go for camping and just to soak in the great outdoors.

Lake Windermere

This is Cumbria’s largest attraction, situated in the Lake District. It’s England’s largest natural lake and creates a beautiful paradise for you to see.

The UK has many hotspots. We’ve only barely touched upon a few, but these are some of my favorites. Do you have a favorite you’d like to share?

One of my favourite places in the whole world is Brighton – I spent the most amazing weekend there with a few of my friends in January! <3

I live in Bristol (home of Banksy, Massive attack and Portishead) which is near Bath, Stonehenge and Cornwall, and would agree those places are great,
Canterbury is pretty, but as the last commenter said Brighton is awesome, it is dubbed ‘the British San Francisco’ but then I am from there so I am biased :)

Glasgow and Edinburgh are great cities and most of Scotland is gorgeous. But the Lake District and London have my heart forever. x

I moved to Brighton after a study abroad programme, although I’m from southern France. It’s a very pleasant city to visit, so close to London. My favourite spot nearby is Seven Sisters (a jagged part of the cliffs on the coast).
