DIY Reversible Instagram Coasters

Tile coasters are always great for around the house. They protect surfaces from your sweating drink, and they can be great décor accents. I love the idea of tile coasters, but I also love the idea of using instagram images as coaster surfaces. For this DIY, I took those two elements and combined them to make a set of reversible coasters. These are super simple to make, customizable to your liking and perfect for gifting!

What you need:

Tiles

Instagram prints (It’s best to print out your images on photo paper. I saved mine from the web onto a USB drive and printed them at CVS. Since my tiles were all 4×4, I made 4×6 prints and just cut them to size.)

Mod Podge

Sealer (I used a multi-purpose liquid sealer, but you can also use any water resistant/acrylic sealer)

Paintbrush

I picked up my tiles at a salvage store and chose a variety of prints and colors.

First, flip over your tiles and cover the back with a solid coat of Mod Podge.

Lay your images onto the tiles and allow the Mod Podge to set for about an hour.

Next, paint a coat of Mod Podge on top of the image. This will dry clear so don’t worry about ruining the picture! Once all of your tiles have dried, finish off with a few coats of the sealer. This will help protect the images from any water that might loosen the Mod Podge. Allow your tiles to dry completely.

It might be a good idea to glue something like felt or cork squares onto the bottom of the coaster so it doesn’t scratch your table. At least that is what I would need to do for my table surface.

This is a brilliant idea the photo needs to be covered with glue so the water or liquid coming from the glass won’t affect the photo.

These are awesome!
I made a set of instagram coasters with Coastermatic. They print instagram images directly on to stone coasters, so a nice alternative for those who aren’t friends with modge podge. They’re really absorbent too.
