Light layering is key when it comes to transitional dressing. Your sleeveless dress becomes a little too bare when the season starts to move away from summer and you need that little extra layer to make it just right. Our Sacred Geometry lookbook is all about light layering — it was one of the styling highlights throughout the book. We asked our senior stylist about the styling in the book and the considerations that went towards proportions in getting the looks just right. Here’s what she had to say:
“For this lookbook, we wanted the looks to feel more transitional with the color palette, the heavier knits, and light layering. I love that a lot of the looks include our favorite summer pieces and by adding a layer you can carry them into fall. The maxi dress below is great because you can wear it on its own or add the textured seamless cap sleeve in ivory for a more transitional feel. You could also complete the look by throwing on our vegan leather jacket to give it that 90’s grunge feel. Another look I loved was the romper (see photo below). It’s great on its own for hot summer days, and also works great as a swim cover-up, but by adding the sweater on top, the look becomes more fall-forward and the neckline because more interesting. Another thing I love with light layering is the different play on necklines.”
