Style File: Our Graphic Design Assistant

Our Graphic Design Assistant is the cutest. She’s intriguing and you can sense she has a unique imagination. She adorns her outfits with unexpected little details; abstract accessories that juxtapose her pretty look. You can tell she has a great understanding of the little details, which also reflects in her graphic work here at Free People. Her style is fun, cute, and carefully mapped out to portray her personality and the lifestyle she lives. She has a light, delicate nature about her, a nature that you don’t want to disturb because it’s so peaceful. Here’s a little bit about her.

“I was born in Taipei and moved to Singapore when I was about seven and spent equal number of years there.

Then I moved to Xiamen China and spent four years there before moving to Brooklyn for school. To me home really literally means that it’s where my heart belongs and that it is more than just geographical.

I love the busy streets of Taipei and being able to find gems in every corner. The food. The people. I love that they’re the kind of people who say, ”You’ve never tried this and that before?!’ and actually grab you and go experience exactly ‘this and that’. I loved the weather in Singapore. It was sunny almost all the time, and then there’d be these thunderstorms that were the best thunderstorms. I grew up taking photos after photos of dark gray heavy clouds. They made me oddly happy. China was a whole other world for me and my family. I remember spending a lot of time with my family then traveling to different cities in China. I think feeling small was my favorite part of the experience. That’s also where David and I first met at school and that’s something I hold dear to :) and Brooklyn, Brooklyn was my own home. Those were my precious college years.”

I am an In-House Illustrator and Assistant Graphic Designer at Free People and I’ve been here for eight months!

I went to college at Pratt Institute and studied Illustration.

I will always hum made-up tunes.

My favorite album of all time is Mutual Friends by BOY.

Right now I’m listening to Open Season by High Highs.

My go-to outfit is a pair of high waisted black denim.

To get inspired I travel when I can, and read random articles about random things :)

Strawberries, yogurt and landscape photography are my biggest weaknesses.

In my next life I want to come back as a sailor

Beauty is from within, and embraced through every phase of our lives

Growing up I was a total introvert but always lucky enough to have met great weird friends anyway

My favorite book is The English Patient

The best beauty tip I’ve learned is smile from the heart, and through your eyes

I never go anywhere without a Mitsubishi UM-151 0.38 black pen.

When my phone rings and David’s (my husband) caller ID pic shows up, it always puts a smile on my face.

My kitty cat Kai is my most prized possession, but but he’s also my child. My child possession.

Embrace, whole heartedly is what free means to me.
