Whenever I think of Paris, images of beautiful girls sporting a swipe of chic red lipstick come to mind. Our August catalog and the film to go with it (Roshambo: Paper-Scissors) were shot in the wonderful city of Paris, so I thought now would be the perfect time to share some tips about wearing lipstick!
Before applying lipstick, make sure you exfoliate your lips. This will get rid of any dead skin, evening out your lips and smoothing them out. You can even make your own edible lip scrub using just 3 ingredients! Another way to exfoliate is by coating a dry toothbrush with petroleum jelly and gently brushing on top of your lips in circular motions.
2. Use a lip balm.
A balm will further soften your lips and lock in moisture, which will keep your lipstick from appearing cracked and uneven. Apply a lip balm after exfoliating but before applying color. You can also make your own all-natural lip balm instead of buying one.
3. Apply foundation.
This may sound strange, but applying a powder foundation on top of your lipstick will help the color last on your lips without drying them out. Just dust a tiny bit of your everyday face powder on top of your lips after applying lipstick, and be amazed at how long the color will last.
4. Do the teeth trick.
Hopefully you haven’t experienced lipstick on your teeth, but it’s happened to me many-a-time – I usually realize after I’ve just spent a few hours interacting with a ton of people. Of course, it’s just lipstick. It’s not such a big deal, but if you’d prefer to avoid it, the solution is simple! After applying lipstick, put your finger in your mouth, forming an “O” around it with your lips. Pull your finger straight out. Any lipstick that would have ended up on your teeth is now on your finger. Wipe it off and you’re good to go.
