Style File: Meryl Pataky

Post image for Style File: Meryl Pataky

For today’s style file we are featuring the beautiful and talented Meryl Pataky, a silversmith, welder, neon artist, and teacher who lives in San Francisco.  I love the contrast of the neon lettering and botanical materials in her work, and it’s so cool to get a glimpse into her studio in these pictures. Read on to learn more about Meryl and get inspired by her personal style!

Where are you from?

I am originally from South Florida but I’ve been living in San Francisco for ten years now.  I’d like to say I’m from here.

How would you describe your personal style?

Normally extremely casual.  Anything I can ride my bike in most days. A little grunge, I live in my black hoodie and when I dress up, there is still an element of street mixed in.

Where do you draw inspiration for your artwork?

Science, the cosmos, the people I know, and my experiences.

What essential items do you always like to have with you when traveling?

Laptop, my make-up bag, and sketch book.

What do you love most about your job?

I get to be creative every day.

Do you have any exciting plans for this summer?

I hope to get in one more camping/river trip before the end of summer.  Regardless, I’ve had a pretty exciting summer in SF so far: producing new artwork, making some cleansing changes in my life, re-discovering my love affair with this city and falling in love with new people in my life.

What is the last book you read?

Mia Goes To Dance (I tutor kids) But really, for myself,  Breakfast of Champions.

What is the last album you bought?

An Awesome Wave by Alt J.

Describe Free People in three words.

Free, flowy, flirty.
