7 Natural Ways To Energize

It seems that everyone is welcoming fall with open arms. The crisp air, layered outfits, apple-and-cinnamon-spiced everything… it’s all a positive change as summer days near their end. But with these cooler days come fewer hours of sunlight and less time spent outdoors, which is a recipe for lower energy levels. Not to worry, though. There are lots of little things you can incorporate into your everyday life to naturally keep your energy level at its highest!

Stretch Like A Cat

When you wake up in the morning, take a few minutes to let your mind and body adjust to being awake before you get out of bed. While breathing deeply, consciously stretch every muscle in your body, starting with your toes and working your way up until you reach the muscles in your face. Think of yourself as a cat that has just awoken from a nap. First stretch yourself out, then begin your day.

Eat Breakfast

Breakfast in a tray

This may seem like a given, but oftentimes we’re so rushed in the morning that we don’t get a chance to enjoy a full meal before beginning our day. After fasting for multiple hours while we sleep, our bodies need plenty of nutrients in order to operate at their maximum potential. Wake up just a little bit earlier, fix yourself a healthy breakfast, and enjoy every bite of it.

Drink Water

Water

Water is crucial for proper functioning of every system in our bodies, which are naturally made of up to 60% water! Dehydration is a big contributor to feeling fatigued, so make sure you’re getting enough water every single day. In addition to drinking water throughout the day, start every morning with a full glass, and end every evening with another one!

Laugh

Laugh

Laughter is so important for emotional well-being, and it can really help pick up energy levels when they’re feeling a little low. Make a point to spend time each day with people who make you laugh. In addition to the energy you’ll get from laughing, strengthening bonds with people in your life will help you to feel happier overall.

Get Sun

Sun in sky

Although you may not have the urge to spend as much time outside when the weather cools down, it’s important to make sure you’re exposed to the sun every day. A ten-minute mid-day walk is all you need to reap the benefits of the sun’s natural energy.

Try Aromatherapy

The benefits of aromatherapy are endless – and providing you with energy is another to add to the list. Exposing your nose to scents like lavender, eucalyptus, or vanilla will awaken your senses and keep you alert, giving your body the energy it needs.

Tap Your Thymus

Thymus

The thymus is an organ in your immune system that is located at the center of your chest, below your collar bone. Tapping this area triggers the production of T-cells, increases energy, relieves stress, boots your immune system, and more. To do so, place your fingers in the center of your sternum and tap or thump for 15 to 20 seconds while breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth. You will likely feel an immediate sense of calm after tapping your thymus, and doing so regularly can lead to a long-term increase in your immune system and energy level overall!

With these 7 little tricks, you can keep you energy levels high all the way through to next summer! Let us know if you have any to add to the list. :)

I am down with laughing. It always makes me feel better. That and taking a deep breathe.

Love the really obscure tip of tapping the thymus …. this post is soooo helpful for me! I love this time of year, but tend to find that I get more easily exhausted as the days begin to shorten.

You have no idea how helpful this post was… seriously one of the most beneficial posts for me in a long, long time. I have been having lethargy problems lately, and tapping my thymus seriously just worked! Thank you so much!

Great suggestions! I think we all know these things are good for us (with the exception of tapping your thymus!) but it is always good to be reminded of having healthy habits.

Have tried all of these except for the thymus tapping. I don’t have horrible energy problems anymore since I started eating healthier and taking maca root each morning in the place of coffee. Every little bit helps though! :) Thanks FP!
