August 23–September 22
As your ruling planet Mercury dashes into your resources sector, you’re encouraged to think about what will put you in a good position to achieve your birthday goals. With desirous Venus entering your communication zone and meshing with Neptune in your relationship angle, telling people what you want from them gets easier—and that definitely goes in the plus column for the week. But contemplating your priorities, your finances, your talents, your requirements and the state of your confidence is also important as you embark on a new year. Don’t worry if it’s hard to reconcile this line of thinking with other areas of your life such as relationships and creativity. Just get yourself thinking in terms of what you already have going for you and what you need to get going. Subconscious drives and self-defeating behavior may conflict with your love life, artistic pursuits, fun and a critical, cautious attitude. But liberating intimacy provides a release for whatever is trying to burst forth into consciousness.
September 23–October 22
Mercury enters Libra this week, ostensibly gifting you with a silver tongue, but its brushes with other planets mean the gift comes with a couple of caveats. Verbal clarity with coworkers may prove elusive, and an argument with a parent or housemate is a distinct possibility. Mercury in Libra at its best accommodates different points of view and communicates with tact and diplomacy. At its worst, it’s ambivalent and disingenuous, talking out both sides of its mouth. So focus on saying what you mean and meaning what you say now. As your ruler Venus dances into your values house, you’re called to ponder what you most want to have. Such ponderings are liable to veer towards your work when Venus teams with longing Neptune in your service zone. Blending your deepest desires and highest priorities with useful, meaningful employment can seem like an impossible dream, but it’s a dream you may catch a precious glimpse of now.
October 23–November 21
Warrior Mars (your co-ruler) in your ambition angle’s got you pushing for career progress, but his battles with not-so-fast Saturn in Scorpio and your other co-ruler, Pluto, will likely lead to some aggravation this week. You might be standing in your own way due to tendencies towards rigidity and control. Everything’s not happening exactly according to plan, but don’t let that stop you. Change up your routine, ditch an outworn habit, try a completely foreign method of doing something—these are the types of actions that will get results now. Listen to your intuition, but mind that subliminal thoughts don’t fly out of your mouth inadvertently, as they could cause problems if shared in the wrong context. Lovely Venus dances into your sign now, though, putting the law of attraction firmly on your side. You become more clear on what you want and more capable of drawing it to you. Your social life and love life should amp up, as pleasure and affection come to life in you. Make time over the weekend for creativity, romance and play.
November 22–December 21
Optimistic Sagittarians are prone to biting off more than they can chew, but weeks like this force you to scale back. Doer Mars is in your perspective house, driving you to get plenty done, but when Mars crosses swords with limiting Saturn and domineering Pluto, your best bet is to instinctively narrow down your priorities. Regardless of what it is you’re aiming to accomplish, you may not be able to operate with as much independence as you’d like. Look for a more innovative method of doing what you’ve set out to do, and be open to impromptu action. With friendly Mercury in your group sector, your social life is probably busy, but it may conflict with home life and finances now. Take a cue from Venus as she sneaks into your seclusion zone and syncs with spiritual Neptune in your domestic angle—grab some alone time when you feel the need for peace and quiet.
December 22–January 19
Cerebral Mercury moves into your ambition angle this week, putting your mind on what you’ve achieved up to this point. But Mercury’s skirmishes with vague Neptune, your ruler Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn will impact your thinking. Synthesizing your current status with the ambiguity lurking in the back of your head, your unfolding new goals and the overwhelming nature of your drive to succeed will be mentally taxing, so make peace with the disparities. Avoid voicing your frustration with someone senior to you, since that will only complicate matters. It’s quite tempting to push your agenda now, with bold Mars in an area of your chart that lends him extra passion and intensity. The emotional component of your motivation won’t rub everyone the right way, so do your own thing or partner with one trusted person rather than attempting to get everyone on board. You’re more likely to feel in sync with people at the end of the week, especially if you momentarily release all thoughts of control.
January 20–February 18
You may feel backed into a corner this week and come out swinging, thanks to aggressive Mars in your relationship angle clashing with power-players Saturn and Pluto. Simmering emotions or a lack of progress with your goals exacerbate your urge to act out. But take other people out of the equation for a moment and consider what you need to let go of in order to move forward. Clinging to someone or something that’s no longer serving you is causing you pain and holding you back. Free up your habitual mindset and view your situation differently, with more objectivity and intellectual detachment in order to get out of emotionally patterned thinking. You’re trying to figure out what you believe about your future, but iffy confidence makes that difficult now. As Venus climbs to the top of your chart, focus on what flavor of success you value the most. Imagine exactly how it will feel, and try to locate that feeling in your body.
February 19–March 20
Several of the planets are quarreling this week, suggesting specific challenges for Fishes. You’re on your grind, with energetic Mars in your duties sector, but work probably feels especially arduous now, and you can’t see where it’s leading. It feels like your vision is blocked, and your objectives keep shifting. But when Mars gels with liberating Uranus in your worth house, that’s your signal to continue to shake up your self-image and self-esteem. A fresh take on your value, your needs and your ability to provide for yourself is an important piece of the job puzzle. Venus is entering your outlook zone, making it easier to conceptualize a future that’s entirely worth all this effort. And when Venus harmonizes with Neptune in Pisces, pleasure, beauty, imagination, spirituality, love and creativity are at your fingertips. Resist taking the passive route of merely sitting back and enjoying this nice feeling, and take advantage of the flow. Let your intuition guide you to where the opportunities lie.
March 21–April 19
With communicative Mercury crossing your partnership angle and amicable Venus entering your sharing sector this week, your relating skills are accentuated. But as these planets nudge you to find a healthy balance between yourself and others, assertive Mars in your self-expression zone is directing your energy toward personal enjoyment. And since Mars is the ruling planet of your sign, you tend to go along with his agenda. If your drive to do what pleases you meets with resistance now, practice the art of compromise. View obstacles as opportunities to clarify your focus and consolidate your strength. Interactions that devolve into debates or power struggles may test your patience, but one-on-one time with someone you feel at home with will feel soothing. When Mars clicks with innovative Uranus in Aries at week’s end, find an alternative—and possibly more independent—means of doing what you want to do. This is your kind of moment, so seize the chance to do something in your own unique way.
April 20–May 20
Your actions are apt to be emotionally driven while catalyst Mars is transiting the bottom of your chart, and when he feuds with Saturn and Pluto this week, you may find yourself getting worked up over a stalemate or difference of opinion. If someone is blocking your path, figuring out a different route will offer more satisfaction than pushing against opposing forces. Your mind is on doing things a certain way now, and creative problem-solving will be more effective than stubbornly sticking to a super specific plan. As Venus enters your partnership house, relationships will warm, and her mellifluous encounter with unifying Neptune in your group sector should ease connections of all sorts. Although a better flow is developing between you and others, don’t expect simplicity. As one of the first signs in the zodiac, simplifying things is both your blessing and your curse. But our bonds with other people are exquisitely complex, given the infinitely varied personalities of human beings—and this concept is likely to reveal itself in the coming weeks.
May 21–June 20
You’re feeling extra expressive, thanks to verbal Mercury’s entry into your heart sector and fiery Mars’s presence in your communication house. But when both of those planets run into trouble with heavier hitters this week, making yourself understood won’t be an easy task. Coworkers, a boss or other authority figure, a close friend or your mate are all possible candidates for tense encounters. You’ll learn more from engaging and working through the difficulties than you will from avoiding all potential conflict. You’re bound to make your point rather forcefully right now, so be prepared to adapt to people’s reactions. You could get valuable feedback that shows you what’s workable and what’s not. Your ego may come into play when interacting with someone close to you, and navigating the ins and outs of this relationship will take honesty, strength and a willingness to go deeper. Try a different way of saying what you’re bent on saying.
June 21–July 22
Pensive Mercury slips into your emotional-foundation angle this week, putting you even more in touch with your feelings than usual, although you may have some trouble distilling or conveying them, due to Mercury’s dicey meetings with confusing Neptune, restricting Saturn and dominant Pluto. Privately sorting through memories, family issues and personal emotions is paramount. But the things that are bubbling up in you now may not fit perfectly with your vision of the future, your spiritual beliefs, your search for love, your maturing self-expression and the evolving power dynamic in your one-on-one relationships. Not to worry. This week brings more food for thought than resolution. As sweet Venus arrives in your love-and-creativity house, matters of the heart become ever more important, and Venus’s hookup with dreamy Neptune hints at the possibility of romance or artistic expression. When go-for-it Mars clicks with you-never-know Uranus at the end of the week, bold confident action could precipitate career movement.
July 23–August 22
Mars in Leo wants to go big or go home, pride being the motivating factor. But when Mars runs into roadblock Saturn and controlling Pluto this week, you’re compelled to modify your modus operandi. Such obstructions may provoke frustration and anger in you, but they’ll also point you toward a smarter, more disciplined, potent and effective way of doing what you want to do. It could feel like a colleague or parent is forcing this lesson on you, or it may be that your work, health or responsibilities at home curtail your actions. Talking things out probably won’t solve everything, since verbal Mercury’s not faring better than Mars at the moment. Demonstrating warm feelings with people in your inner circle will ease tension, as emotional closeness is surprisingly natural now. And a totally different approach may help as well: Try detaching from your opinions and accepted truths and looking at your situation from a fresh perspective you’re not used to. A seemingly radical course of action may be the best.
