Top 3 Nail Trends For Fall 2013

One of my favorite parts about entering a new season is how the shift in weather brings about a shift in our moods, and how that mood shift then translates to a change in colors in our wardrobe, hair, and makeup. While summer is usually about keeping things light and bright, fall always tends to be deeper, darker, and richer. I asked our lovely in-house makeup artist April for her favorite nail trends for Fall 2013.

Metallics are certainly hot this season, in all different hues. April recommends Essie’s Nothing Else Metals, which has a beautiful purplish undertone. Keeping it metallically basic, we also love Essie’s No Place Like Chrome, pictured below.

Black with a twist

We’re obsessed with black nails for fall, and this year we like adding a little bit of added excitement. Here we used Maybelline’s Color Show Nail Lacquer in Onyx Rush as a base and then created a half moon shape at the tip of the nail with Free People polish in gold.

Deep reds

Red is always a staple when it comes to fall nails, and this season we’re going deep and moody. April recommends Chanel’s La Vernis Nail Colour in Rouge Noir as a go-to for this season.

  1. love metallics, blacks and deep reds! some of my favorite colors to paint my nails! i’m going to a wedding this weekend and wearing your southern girl slip with the parisian slip underneath and i can’t decide what color to paint my nails! i’m wearing black accessories but maybe some dark red nails? :) i know… dilemas… i’m also loving the oil slick color for fall! i love my new essie “for the twill of it”!

  2. I made metallic nail polish the other night by mixing my eyeshadow in clear nail polish. The fact that I’m wearing metallic nail polish and just now seeing this article, means that I’m very fashionable :)

  3. I have been wearing Essie’s No Place Like Chrome all summer long and I love it! It’s the perfect color to bring out a tan, even if it does need more than one topcoat to stay.
