UK Guest Post: Sunday Snaps From Broadway Market

This post is from our UK contributor Julia of Stylonylon!

Home to one of London’s best-loved Saturday food markets, Broadway Market is an east London street and hotspot – great for people watching, street style, cafés, small restaurants and independent book shops. During the summer, the adjacent London Fields park is full of cool kids lapping up the sun, walking their dogs, having barbecues and playing frisbee. But while Saturdays can be jam-packed with queues for the favourite street food – the revived market now hosts over 100 stalls – Sundays are heavenly quiet.

Just the right amount of shops and cafes are open, including my favourite fishmongers Fin & Flounder and Café La Bouche (I love coming for a mid-week mint tea and brownie here!) and we always head right to the end, where you’ll see one of east London’s most recognized and superbly brutal landmarks, the Regent’s Canal gasworks. Once there, we usually pop into Market Cafe for a delicious Eggs Florentine or burger brunch. Add to that easy street art viewing and bookshop browsing and you’ve got a killer combination! (I should also mention, for any London readers, that the much-loved pub Cat & Mutton is undergoing a refurbishment with new management and will be re-opening next year!)

What I loved this Sunday before the holiday was all the little decorative details along the way – tinsel, trees, and wreaths. And, as ever, I indulged my penchant for retro tables and chairs decked out on the pavements by snapping away. I also spotted a fabulous Peacock chair at the nearby bijoux Netil Market (similar to the one in this gorgeous post about Free People model Kelly Ash). For just £35, I will be going back for that soon!

I hope you enjoy the photos and I look forward to bringing you more in 2014, documenting my end of year and new year travels. Happy holidays, all!
