Monday Quote: She Stood In The Storm

“She stood in the storm & when the wind did not blow her away, she adjusted her sails.” – Elizabeth Edwards

For me, this quote speaks of strength and self respect. If something happens that causes bad energy in your life, it’s easy to get consumed by it. I’ve learned that the best way to overcome this is to realize your ability to push negative things away, and adjust your direction of thought to positive. You may be down for a bit, but eventually you will find a shining answer that will help you look on to bigger and better things.

How do you see this quote? It’s inspiring to hear what you all have to say and to look at it from another perspective.

This quote reminds me to keep on pushing. Nothing is perfect in life. There is fault but I have to accept that fault. I am in charge of my happiness, I have control. If things aren’t going the way I want them to, I’ll just adjust and mend things back to a acceptable stage.

I feel as though this quote is saying that often times we humans try to put all of our fate in fate. If fate does not do what we want it to do, we must try ourselves to make our wishes a reality.

In a storm we usualy focus our whole energy on fighting against it instead of working with this epic energy around us. While we are fighting we are blind to see those other beautiful chances. And who knows, this different direction could even bring up better aspects to the situation…

Thank you so much for this quote! It’s always a pleasure to start a new week with those inspiring lines…

I wonder if she was inspired by the Latin Proverb: Destitutus Ventis, Remos Adhibe “If the Wind will not serve, take to the oars.”
This is actually my next planned tattoo! Right across my lower shouder or tricep – wherever the artist can fit it. I’m having my parents write it out – because that quote sums up the hard-work ethos they have instilled. We don’t expect anything to be handed to us – and we take pleasure not only in the fruits of our labor but in our labor itself! The reality of rowing – skimming along, sun on my shoulders, breath moving in time with the oars, knowing that the burning in my muscles is making me stronger and taking me farther – all makes for a beautiful afternoon. I think of any hard work the same – I set decide where I’m going, set my sights, and dig in! :)

The quote is actually “she stood in the storm, and when the wind did not blow her WAY…” Instead of away. FYI.
