Blogger Diary: South America

Take me back to a few beautiful weeks spent exploring parts of South America. To the very tail end of a summer-long trip. 15 countries down, 2 to go: Argentina and Brazil.

Take me back to a time spent wandering through Buenos Aires with sleepy, jet-lagged, yet wide open eyes. To hilariously getting locked in that teeny bathroom of that tiny restaurant after a delicious meal. To gazing in awe at the inexplicable beauty that is Iguassu Falls, staring deeply into the falling water, wondering how it’s all possible… as a butterfly landed gently on my hand, reminding me that there’s a fine line between dreams and reality. Take me back to a time I mistakenly told a local I was pregnant… when I meant to say I was embarrassed. To crystal clear water, to beautiful black sand, to boat parties with incredible live music. To my stay in a Rio de Janiero favela, where families occupy one-room homes and hot water is an ultimate luxury. Take me back to a place where I got to take care of children — with whom I could communicate with nothing more than the language of big smiles and genuine laughter…

I want to go back to Buenos Aires so badly. If my husband and I could work there, we would kiss the States goodbye in 2 seconds flat. Not that I dislike it here, but BA is such a marvelous city full of life. Nowhere else can you find the best wine in the world, street dancing, and cheap leather purses within a one block radius. I can’t wait to return.
