Healing Apple Cider Vinegar Limeade

Post image for Healing Apple Cider Vinegar Limeade

This post comes from contributor Kristen Hedges.

Out of all the bits and bobs in my pantry, all the jars, the boxes, and the tubs of herbs and roots, the bottle that I reach for most often, in cleaning, healing, eating & beauty regime, is apple cider vinegar.

This lovely liquid can be used for a vast array of things. I clean my kitchen counters with it, dab a bit onto a cloth to refresh my skin, spray it in my hair in the shower, & sip a healing drink before supper. Apple cider vinegar is actually one of the things that really helped me to soothe my chronic acid reflux! Taking a teaspoon of ACV before a meal can help reduce the chance of indigestion & heartburn, and can even begin to heal a digestive imbalance over time. The unique blend of enzymes, vitamins & minerals in ACV also helps to boost your immune system, detoxify your lymphatic system & improve your skin. Apple cider vinegar is strong, rather sour stuff, so taking a shot alone may not be the most appealing way to add it into your diet. n. Instead, you can try shaking up a delicious ACV limeade!

What you need:

A quart size jar or container with a lid, nearly full of water

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1+ tbsp sweet, such as raw honey, maple syrup, or stevia leaf

Juice from one lime

Pour the ACV, sweet of choice {I use raw honey}, and lime juice into the water. Screw the cap on tightly, and shake it up until the honey at the bottom has completely mixed in.

This is best served over ice, or even frozen into cubes & blended.

I had no idea you can use apple cider vinegar for so many things, need to get a bootle now!

teetee -March 17, 2014, 2:44PM

do you take a teaspoon before each meal or just once a day?
thank you in advance

Kristen -March 17, 2014, 3:01PM

teetee, when I was taking AVC regularly, I would mix a teaspoon with a small glass of water & drink it before dinner {when I had most of my tummy troubles.} You can one tsp anytime during the day, whenever you feel that your digestion needs a boost.

I don’t know how I feel about drinking apple cider vinegar, however it could be something new to try and surprise me!

I love Apple Cider vinegar but was never able to take it in its liquid form. Then i found the pill form by Sundown naturals and i was hooked. It can still have a pretty strong smell though but It clears up my skin like no other! I’m defiantly going to have to try this recipe soon.

I just made this but used 500ml water, 3tbsp cider vinegar and instead of just lime juice I chucked the zest in too. It is so good that I now wish to drink nothing else!

Jessica R.F -May 16, 2015, 2:29PM

Awesome! Thank you – I could feel it working in my gut right away. A note: there’s a strange phrase that sounds spammy at the end of your post: “n. Dermatologist, fallen use cost of levitra in canadian pharmacy product and left fragrance.”
