What To Pack For SXSW

Festival season is officially here! Julia and I couldn’t be more excited to head down to Austin this week for SXSW – great music, awesome people, warm weather, breakfast tacos… what more could you ask for? We’ve both been to the festival before so we have some idea of what to expect, and what essentials we should bring with us.  Here’s what we’re packing for our trip to Austin – and be sure to follow us on Instagram and Twitter starting Thursday for live coverage from SXSW!

Jana Day 1

sxsw outfit 1

When I first saw these pants in our March book, I think I caught myself drooling. The tie dye harem style is a fun and comfortable style to walk around Austin in, and I paired it with a simple white tank in hopes of getting some color on my arms. I always like carrying a backpack too. It’s a safe and convenient place to keep my camera and other essentials.

1) Desert Sun Tie Dye Harem

2) Mock Me Tank

3) Banjo Backpack

4) Second Nature Sandal

5) Ombre Straw Rancher Hat

6) Freya Sunglasses

Julia Day 1

This first look is my favorite. I’ve had my eye on this skirt for some time now, and I think the streets of Austin are the perfect place to wear it. Complete with an easy tee, floppy hat, this amazing fringe bag (seriously – I’m in love), and extremely comfy shoes, this outfit is festival perfection.

1. Lovely Spot Split Maxi Skirt

2. Wide Brim Floppy Felt Hat

3. We The Free You So Fancy Tee

4. Foreverly Bag

5. Mercury Sunglasses

6. Metal Bead Rosary

7. Westing Chukka

Jana Day 2

For day 2, I chose an earthy color palette and went for a shorts and tee look this time. I also packed along these killer boots and a fringe bag. No festival is complete without some fringe ;)

1) High Waist Lace Short

2) Road Trip Tee

3) Pima Crossbody

4) Fortitude Ankle Boot

5) Feather Back Halo

For my second look I chose something perfect for a hectic day of running around between interviews, photo shoots, and showcases! I love the longer cut of these shorts, and I’ll pair them with this awesome tie back top, comfortable birkenstocks, and a backpack to hold my journal and camera!

1. Tracy Backpack

2. Chrissy Cutoff

3. Mercury Sunglasses

4. FP One Sun Rays Tied Back Top

5. Metal Bead Rosary

6. Arizona Birkenstock

You should stop in Siloam Springs, Arkansas on the way down! We’re the 14th best small town in the US, and we’ve got a great downtown with tons of vintage/antique shops all over town. Or on your way back. Anyways, your loyal reader who only owns one Free People dress that she got at a thrift store,

Torchy’s Tacos and Jester King Brewery!!
Jester King is on the outskirts of Austin, but well worth visiting, it’s the best beer I’ve ever had the pleasure of drinking. And there are tons of Torchy’s Tacos all over Austin.. damn good tacos and THE best queso!! Don’t miss out. Have fun! I’m incredibly jealous.
